Re: Vintage Port by retailer in London

The Boot & Flogger is selling Quinta da Silveira 10 Year Old tawny and claims Davy's is the exclusive UK distributor and retail outlet. As I visit the supermarkets over the next few days I will take a look at what they have in stock at the moment. Thank you, we would like to find some new vinta...

Re: 2016 Declarations

Martinez - this was a really great name up until the '60 vintage. After that the company was sold and the brand pauperised. Is there really no place for a Portuguese brand name in the Symington's stable? I agree with your question, but Martinez is actually a Spanish name :) Martinez was founded in ...

Re: BBR port walk 2017

I have never been at the BBR port walk. Is it worth while to travel from Sweden to attend next time? How many vintage ports, roughly, are served?

Re: Vintage Port by retailer in London

I'm looking for something we haven't tasted before and when the retail shops have vintages on offer we usually haven't tasted them as they are not available in Sweden. Anything but the ones we have sampled are of interest. We have tried the following: http://www.vintageport.se/producers.php

Re: Warm-up for the BFT: Something nice from the 60s

Alex B. was born in 1963, and has tasted many (many!) 1963s. He might never had had the Fs63. Please could it be saved for an evening which he could attend? (Or, if you have enough of them, would you be willing to sell one for me to give him?) He hasn’t, or had not last time I attended your tasting...

Vintage Port by retailer in London

We are going to London in May and would appreciate if anyone know about what is available by retailer?

Sometimes there are good deals available at shops like Tesco or Marks & Spencer.

Anyone who has some recommendations for Vintage ports currently available in London?

If you are both attending? Both?
Yes we are both attending but these were options from my cellar. Sten will select from his cellar. I will bring Feist as this is rare in the UK as far as I understand.

Re: Warm-up for the BFT: Something nice from the 60s

Very interesting with two blended bottles the same evening! I did't know that Averys 1963 was a blend. I presume you all know that Harvey's 1962 is a blend of Cockburn and Martinez. It would be fabulous to have the Sandeman 1963 at the same time if that is possible! Having the components of Harvey's...

Taylor's LBV

I noticed that my rank is "Taylor’s LBV". This status impels me to write about my last tasting. We had a tasting at a port wine friend who offered us a spectacular and surprising tasting of Taylor's LBV. We are devoted Vintage lovers but this LBV tasting showed some surprising longevity of...

Coravin does preserve the bottles in a good way for about 6 months. After that, my experience is that you can notice a clear deterioration of the wine.

May I ask what is your personal ranking och what types of fortified wine are the best?

There is no indication whatsoever that it is not a vintage, see photo. I still have one in my cellar.

the 1963 is a true vintage port.
I have no indication that the 1863 is wood aged but cannot say for sure as I have only read about it.

joven's Vintage port

We had a Joven's 1977 Vintage Port yesterday. Does anyone know anything about this house? I have seen Joven's a few times before, once as the bottler of Lidador vintage 1978 and a few times as tawnies. However 1977 is the only Joven's vintage I have ever seen. Joven's is not mentioned in any of the ...
