Bit harsh on '91? Will take a bit more time to see, but seems 83-ish in quality to me at the moment (91/92 split aside).

Re: The 2014 Harvest

Anyone into numerology would be worried; '94 is the only year ending in 4 which was a general declaration in the last 100 years (unless 24 was? I know the RP24 was good); years ending in 9 don't generally do well. Nostrophil says 2014 will not be a general declaration, but looks forward to being sp...

Re: A reason to get up early

The box currently contains 4 x Celestron X-Cel LX's, 3 x Skywatcher Plossls, 1 x Celestron Omni Plossl, 3 x Barlow lenses, 1 x Seben Zoom lens and a range of filters. Roughly equivalent £££ to a case of Warre 1970 :? oosh, that's quite a collection; I'm guessing you have at least an 8" tube to...

Decided what you're going to go for? Or will it require the building of a new shed/garage with sliding/glass roof first?

Re: A reason to get up early

It is difficult to find pictures that look exactly like what you see through the scope because all of the images are either blurry like mine or heavily processed. The closest I could find was this , but what I see is brighter and the bands on Jupiter more distinct. Based on that, it sounds like the...

I'm going to give you that. From 9pm until midnight Jupiter is at its closest point to Earth and the Sun, Earth and Jupiter are in alignment, in that order. It is known as Opposition and is the best time to view Jupiter from Earth, provided the sky is clear. My completely inadequate photographic ca...

Re: IVDP glasses and square stems

Personally I'm not a fan of the square-stemmed with notch glasses. I'm not sure I can be a lot more specific than that I find the the smooth stem much more comfortable to hold than the corners and notch. Of course, I realise that others may need the notch in order to ensure that they always hold the...

It certainly is; There is a bottle of F77 on there, with tasting notes from Wine Spectator, Robert Parker, Neil Martin and AHB - and AHB's score is the lowest of the lot :o

Nope, no guesses approaching the right answer yet... Clue: The TPF member is mentioned by TPF name, not "real" name, and not just Christian name. The reference is NOT a co-incidence, either. p.s. Have just been out for food with friends, and have another friend coming over shortly, so will...

Derek's telescope? Selling his tube *wags little finger* to get a bigger one. Julian. Selling his big empty tubes. Me selling off my collection of hand-tooled vintage jokes. No, none of the people mentioned, and the "why" does not involve the girth of any TPF member's tube. Question remin...

Re: One quiz at a time

So to recap, we've been told that 1945 is not far wrong, but that it's not 1948. It isn't Fonseca, Graham or Taylor, but Croft is 'close'. Taking that literally, the closest other house to the Croft quinta at Roêda is Dow. Is it a Dow 42? Go back a couple of posts; Alex confirmed the vintage was '...

Interesting statistics as always, thank you. I'm particularly impressed with: In 2013 I wrote 496 tasting notes on 495 different bottles of port not only by the huge variety of ports within a year, but that you also seem to have almost avoided any duplication of tasting notes whatsoever! Also your &...

Right vintage. Close on the shipper, although not as close as Croft.
Then I'll guess you mean close alphabetically rather than TFP and go for Cockburn 1947?
