Re: 1997 Dow

Scant (=zero) notes on this one. From memory, nice drinking, a little stewey perhaps, but lots of fruit. Sort of gives the impression this would not be one for the long term, although it's only 19 years old, so who knows!

70% opacity, dark red. Tannic mouthfeel, good fruit - dark plums. Not quite in balance though. Maybe another 5 or 10 years for this to really get into stride.

Re: 1977 Cockburn

35% opacity, red-brown. Quite hot, in the mouth some tree sap - cedar. This was quite different to the sample tasted at the 2015 BFT, which was much more fine and elegant.

30% opacity, brown-orange. Very candied nose. Not the best of ports, but also, not undrinkable. Lacking structure and dominated by sugar. Fell apart after half and hour.

50% opacity, dark red. Quite dry and tannic mid to late palate. Good balance, plenty of fruit here. A fine bottle of F70, but not as stellar as some tasted recently.

25% opacity, warm orange brown. Some very mild acidity, syrupy mouthfeel. OK port, but this time not able to compete with the other '60s on show.

25% opacity, brown-orange. Nice mouthfeel, heat and acidity late on the palate. Good structure for a '63. Oranges in the mouth. Later on this port improved a little further.

My Cr63 was delivered together with the placemats to the B&F at lunchtime. JDAW has kindly offered to decant the Croft when he arrives, as I will not get there until 6.30.

Some very odd pricing indeed. A case of 6 T92 is £570, a case of 12, £1425.

Would it be possible to decant the night before for the D and F? Certainly F85 enjoys a long decant, and I doubt D97 would object.
