Re: One quiz at a time
Only 3999... very poor. More effort and port required!

Bottle opened and decanted at 10pm last night. Stopper put on decanter but will be removed at midday. Seems to be showing very well.

Re: Should the IVDP ban the filtration of LBV?
By coincidence it is the 50th anniversary of the first filtered Taylor’s LBV (The 1965 LBV released in 1970).

Coming back to the first post’s premise... The important thing is there is a place for both styles and filtering should not be banned

VWP and b.f.t. Quevedo tasting
Tony and the team at Vintage Wine & Port are doing a fundraiser Quevedo Port tasting on the 7/8th May in support of NHS and Portuguese charities. The tasting pack is £99 for 6 x 375ml bottles for a Taste at Home tutored tasting with Oscar on YouTube Live. This is also done in association with th...

Re: Should the IVDP ban the filtration of LBV?
Rightly or wrongly I thought that those that filter their LBV do it so that there is a quality ‘ruby’ port available for the market that requires no decanting (and can also be described as Vintage). To a lot of people the need to decant and a lot of the other traditions around port that we like are ...

Below is a list of documentaries and films based around wine that I have come across. As people might have time on the hands, other than Mike and those others saving us in this strange times, I recommend SommTV.com where you can register for a free 7day trial or and or subscribe for about £9 month (...

He also announced that Churchill's will be introducing a 40 year old blend next year, when Churchill celebrate their 40th anniversary. Does that mean they have bought In some older tawny to help produce an average age of 40YO? If so I wonder who/where provided that. Either way, I am sure it will be...

Re: Lockdown Drinking
In the last week a bottle of Penfold's Bin 707 1996 and compared that against a bottle of Penfold's Bin 707 1997 - a very interesting comparison. Both were fabulous but the 1996 was richer, sweeter and more rounded while the 1997 was a little more austere and had a much bigger tannic structure. The...

Re: Another virtual tasting
So there is the scoring sheet. Congrats to Alex for a high scoring 11 points. Charles’ T85 was unsurprisingly had the most correct guesses and there was a couple of bottles that didn’t get any correct guesses. A great spread of different ports and more than a few that I wish I had had the opportunit...

Well done on arrangements again Mike. I am already looking forward to the next one. Re: RE: Re: Another virtual tasting
Can I check what time we are starting today? Mike's invite suggests 18:00. I will struggle with that. Was assuming 1930. My assumption too Mike's zoom invite is for 19:00, so I was assuming then. Seems likely people may come & go? I must confess I didn’t check but assumed (wrongly) that it was ...

Spotted this... https://www.thedrinksbusiness.com/2020/04/snow-hits-portugals-douro-during-spring/ Oscar Quevedo also posted a picture of snow covered vineyards to the Portlovers at Naked Wines. Is this a coordinated April Fool with TFP or just a chilly Douro! Oscar said the snow and frost were of ...
