Re: Where to get Port Tongs

Ok, so I’ve just watched Roy’s YouTube video and have some light disagreements. If you can heat the tongs in the embers of a wood fire (ideal) or of a barbecue, then Roy’s recommendation of tongs may well be better. But Roy says, at 2”²40″, ‟we have a gas stove which does not get it hot enough”. Su...

Re: Where to get Port Tongs

Some tongs, such as yours and these , have a ring that is perpendicular to the handles. Others, such as these *, have the ring parallel to the handles. Parallel is better: one can lie the tongs on the cooker, make millimetric adjustments so the gas is heating the right place, and wait a few minutes...

Re: Graham vertical in New York

Friday 27th February is deep in the baby zone, so not me. (And as the theme is one of the three versions of drinking-Julian’s-port, that means that the G vertical can’t happen then. Sorry.) We did a 1977 horizontal in New York last year ( link ), hence this is #2. I think that Jay’s description of i...

www.PortBuyerPortSeller.com

I currently own www.PortBuyerPortSeller.com , bought almost two years ago to persuade the owner of :FTLOP: not to restrict access to his ‘marketplace’ for buyers and sellers of port (and Madeira). That demonstration worked, albeit in a bad-tempered sort of way. But my ownership of www.PortBuyerPortS...

Re: Taylor/Fonseca Maturation Tasting - NYC - late dec 2008

Question -- how do we want to do decanting times for the babies? The 03's will be really raw, but we could decant them 24-48 hours in advance... half into a sealed, refrigerated bottle half into a decanter for oxidation I like the split decanting. And we could split the cost of a T70. Where? My wif...

Re: four months in NYC

Are these dates of availability or non-availability? • I’m available in January 2009 until and including Tuesday 27th. • February is good from Wednesday 10th until and including Friday 20th. • Then I enter the zone of re-enfatherment, which will have certainly ended by a date in early April. So my p...

Careful perusal has found some problems. Is Adams the same as Adam? 1995 Petre's Port vintage port ? Allegedly by Niepoort, but not obviously mentioned on niepoort-vinhos.com . http://www.whiskys.co.uk/objects/product_images/cd4bd2a1.jpg http://www.evingtons-wines.co.uk/images/product_images/origina...
