Re: Any chances of a white Christmas?

We seem certain to get some snow in Northern Ireland. But for a white Christmas it has to be falling somewhere at 12 noon. We'll see. Officially I seem to remember it's something like "a single snowflake falling on broadcasting house at any time during Dec 25th" - they probably need a for...

Re: Any chances of a white Christmas?

Between 0°C and 3°C (min/max) at our location on Xmas day, with ~40% chance of precipitation during the night/morning; more likely to be rain than snow.

Re: The Bell, Thursday 19th December 2013

An excellent evening; Thank you to all for their contributions and organisation, including the excellent steaks which were (or at least mine was) cooked perfectly. My favourite ports of the night were the F20 and S20, the former slightly more structured and the latter slightly softer, but both delic...

Re: A reason to get up early

A friend of mine had a Celestron 6SE which he was very happy with; though he upgraded within 6 months, which he warns as a common problem with the hobby, and would recommend going for the 8SE if you can afford it! Good set of features including auto-setup, go-to and tracking, as well as excellent im...

Perhaps he starts wearing thicker socks, made from wool, reminding him of Woolwich? (though I don't think that's a city, so perhaps somewhere else that wool comes from?)

Kodo/taiko drummers You went to see the group "Yamato ”“ The Drummers of Japan", or more specifically their new show "Rojyoh". It was indeed a (superb) performance of Rojyoh - Taiko drumming by the Wadaiko Yamoto, who had not visited the UK for several years. When I saw them ori...

Is it something connected to Japan? Yes. Additional clue: all the performers were Japanese. Further significant clue: The show comprises several pieces played by the performers. All performers play an instrument, almost all of the time. The majority of the time, all of the performers play the same ...

My favourite wine of 2013 (so far) would be a Niepoort '42 which I was lucky enough to try twice thanks to Dirk's generosity; absolutely stunning wine, closely followed by a Cockburn '45.

Search problems

The local site search doesn't seem to be working correctly for me. For example, searching either using the box at top right, or the advanced search for the term "BFT" (or +BFT) searching within subjects and message text yields no results.

Is the train station called Wendens Ambo or Audley End? Audley End - then you'll either have to walk the 5 minutes to the Bell or get a taxi to pick you up and take you to the hotel. or if the are no taxis as happened to me one time, there is a fairly frequent (every 15mins?) bus direct from the st...

Re: One quiz at a time

Earlier this year my wife and I went to a non-London theatre to see a performance which it had not been possible to see in the UK for several years; it was just as good (phenomenally good, in fact) as we remembered from several years ago. What did we see?
