Re: Favicon decision

So the outcome of the weighted†  vote is http://www.jdawiseman.com/ftlop/20070817-glass.gif I like it, and I am happy with the weighted voting system used. It reminds me of the election of Baldrick as MP for Dunny on the Wold (Blackadder III) Well done jdaw. Unfortunately, Lord and Lady B hav...

Ghandih, Don't let Conky fool you into thinking he is an honourable chap. The photo of me in this thread (drunk, smoking and sleeping on Conky's patio) was posted on the internet before I woke up 30 minutes after it was taken  Oh, and AHB requested that we have some means of posting near real...

I would vote for the glass, without letters, with ruby port instead of tawny and twice the fill level of the current version.

Benjamin,

Welcome to The Port Forum. I can only appologise for my fellow Forumites who have no appreciation for art. As you can see from the above conversation I instantly spotted that this painting depicted the Malvedos bottling from 1962.

jdaw,

What about a compromise? We will use flickr.com on the night, cos it works and is very easy to do, and we also transfer all of the photo's onto CD so that you can take them home to floptidop them onto your website another day?

The texture of the brushstrokes in the mauve area in the top right of the painting clearly demonstrate that it was a Grahams Malvedos 1962

Does you website have an FTP-thingy-do-da that I could access from here to try uploading a picture?

The reason I ask is that I have no idea whether or not my laptop has an FTP-thingy-do-da of its own.

I will arrange to pick-up the wines from Tom and let you know the arrangements for money transfer individually by PM or email.

I will also bring my camera and laptop and have the means to publish pictures on flickr.com so no FTP program required.

Re: eleven bottles is too many for five people

Call me a big girl’s blouse if you must, but eleven bottles is too many for five people. Even assuming that the dodgy 1920 is undrinkable, ten is OTT. We should cull one or two. OK, you're a big girl's blouse  Seriously, I don't see the problem. Suppose we only drink the equivalent 6 of them o...

With the loss of Tom, understandably, comes the loss of the 1927 from the lineup. However, Tom has very graciously offered to allow us to purchase the other bottles he had offered to supply. This means that if we want to stick to the Fonseca theme the lineup will be as follows: 1920 1963 1966 1970 1...

Tom,

This is a great shame. It would have been good to have you with us.

What a very kind gesture, although I struggle to see how anyone could describe a Fonseca 1927 as a modest bottle :lol:

I will be in touch offline.

Alex,

I love the idea of realtime TNs

This will happen, even if just from my blackberry.

I don't think conky has wireless so getting the PC to the patio might be a challenge. I might take a laptop an 3G card along to solve the problem

1978 Taylor's Quinta do Vargellas

2nd of 2 bottles purchased from Tom Archer. TN of 1st bottle is here Raised cork which came out in one piece. Decanted very cleanly. Rusty red colour. Very bright and clear and a fabulous cherry smell whilst decanting. Initial glass has a slight carboard smell. Nice thick texture and dark cherry and...

Tom, In terms of return on investment we can't compare this to aged tawnys. The shippers are just topping up supplies of the individual wines that make up those blends and have a more or less constant tap to turn on at any given point in time. With your new style the best they could do now is set as...

According to Suckling's book Q d Eira Velha was not sold through Martinez until 1987.

The 1978 vintage was marketed through Cockburn and prior to that all of the Quinta's production was sold to Ferreira.

Tom, I love the logic in terms of the maturation process but I think the suggested price would be the problem. I'm not sure shippers would be willing to hang on to juice for 15 years that was only going to fetch the equivalent of £20 per bottle. Ignoting the price, would this new style be best serve...
