Re: Virtual Tasting?
mm I was thinking something like a leakers or a broad theme like Rubys / Tawnies that allow for consistency so that we can have a discussion without the potential faults found in vintage ports.

Virtual Tasting?
Any fellow TPFers interested in doing a virtual tasting?
Pick a style theme, discussion wine, life, pleasures, meet new/talk to old folks across the Atlantic?
AHB and Djewels did one many years ago and it was quite fun.

Clear ruby colour with hints of bricking around the edges. Decanted 3 hours. Absolutely lovely nose of honeyed dates, freshly ground allspice mixed with some cardamon. On the palate shows some gingered graham crackers but then opens up to a lovely smooth cinnamon dried currants. There is a plethora ...

Humblebragging here in NY
I've always wanted to do this seeing how you guys over on the fun side of the pond have such great cellars and offlines whereas I struggle to round up folks in NY!
But I've managed to pick up a bottle of 96' Dows.
1896 that is =P

Re: Brooks Royal Coronation Vintage Port 1878
It's not the first time these bottles have come up in auction.
There was a private seller from somewhere in asia back in 2003?
And there was a wine bid auction back in 2013?
Someone was also trying to peddle this bottle on the wine spectator forums back in 2014.

Re: Fitting in more bottles..
Hexagons, we want hexagons! Hexagonal bottles would also tessellate perfectly (albeit not along the edges), while also not allowing an entire row or stack to slide, as well as fitting better within the hand for pouring. But no, we don't want really want hexagonal or square bottles; also presumably ...

Re: Fitting in more bottles..
Imagine if the entire wine industry moved to square or rectangular bottles instead If port was bottled in square bottles with rounded corners - similar to Jack Daniels bottles - they could be racked with over 50% better space efficiency. Unfortunately it would be a different story when bin storing,...

Thanks Alex,
At ~45$ release prices it would fit in roughly at the 20 year tawny range.

As it's hard to herd cats, it's only slightly better herding Northeastern Americans to port offlines. Sushinorth and I visited differentdave out at his house with the theme of share a bottle that is ready to drink. Differentdave spotted a 1970 Croft and a 1970 Dows. Both of which were drinking well ...

Muddy Garnet color that is most likely due to my lack of standing up the bottle as this was a last minute pop and poor. Bark spices, cinnamon, cloves, root beer mixed with a dried green fig branch flesh out a lovely spicy nose. The entry is silky, smooth and cherryish. A surprisingly lush and mouth ...

Re: Software that makes placemats
(The overtitles example looks bad to me, and not due to alignment. I would not put the pattern in the overtitle as it makes that word too difficult to read. Especially in the busy parts in 'pe' and 'ia'.) I agree with this, the pattern in the over label is completely distracting when placed over th...
