I have Hutchison and Barros of the tier 3 Ports. Mike, would it be helpful to paste the list of the tier 3 Ports into the top of this thread so that we can more readily view?
Thanks Ian. Have added a link in the top post to get to the list of shippers in tiers.

Re: A 1970 horizontal, Flights 1-4, Friday 9 October 2020

I have a note from a tasting in 2011 that there is a Messias 1970. Most of the grapes for this wine came from Quinta do Cachão but the blend also included some old vine lotes which had been bought in from farmers who were long-standing suppliers of grapes and wine to Messias but with land outside C...

Re: BBR VP Tasting-Tuesday 22 September 2020

And BBR75 is clearly QH, either in addition to GC (if both existed) or GC is an error in their list for '75. I have often reflected on the fact that, as brands, neither QH nor GC are underpinned by a quinta. And as such, they are essentially ports created from either purchased grapes/wines, or some...

Yes, it was Cachão.
In which case I will amend the tasting note title. Will TN index updates cope with that?

I still haven't found anyone who has the M&S 1970, so it may be it doesn't matter for now about the abbreviation!

For those who attended the 1970 horizontal in 2009, can you recall if the Messias was not actually Messias Cachão? This post seems to confirm that there was no 1970 Messias.

Re: Forrester map of Douro

Hi Diogo Welcome to the forum! If I recall correctly, a restaurant near where I work has a version of a Douro map on the wall. I'll pop in next week and see if I can find out where they got it. Meanwhile, I trust you've already read the various threads here on the subject? Here . And here . And anot...

Re: Port House abbreviations

If M&S is to be as long as three big characters, why not “M&S” (which has precedent )? Hadn't realised that "&" was in use. M&S would be fine I think. What is or was the relationship between BN and Tp (if a stand-alone abbreviation, my preference)? George Thienpont . Also, a purchase by Gerwin . An...

Re: Port House abbreviations

Planning for the 1970 Horizontal has revealed a handful of shippers without an agreed abbreviation:
Flagman
Lopes
Maia
Marks & Spencer own selection
Thienpont (Butler Nephew)

As a proposal, how about:
Fl - we already have FM for F Martins
Lp
Mi
MAS
Tp

Thoughts welcome.

I prefer PascalCase, as it reinforces the often used acronym TPF. Where would the kerning difference happen with camelCase? Around the first dot?

The empty strings explain the weird gaps.
Sackcloth and ashes. This requires some adaptation to the wizard coding, to cope with blank fields. I will get round to that, but not at the pace with which you fixed the log page matter.

A date has been landed for the 1970 Horizontal. Could all those who have expressed an interest, please confirm if they now wish to attend on the 9th October 2020.

The Tier 3 tasting will be the evening before. A separate thread has been set up for that.

Re: 2020 - A 1970 horizontal

[original opening post moved to here] Last night the suggestion was made that we might want to organise a large tasting of 1970 ports in 2020. Early preparation might be well worthwhile to allow us to accumulate as large a selection of 1970 shippers as possible. Between us, we can select what we wi...
