Re: Festive Drinking

Started today with an R Prüm 2018 Solitär Riesling. Now sipping a Rioja.

Port for Christmas Day will be GC80 and TV67. Also a Dr Loosen 2017 Erdener Treppenhen Spätlese, Chateau Musar 2001 and a Rioja Gran Reserva.

Also please can you confirm that your Standard Food Order is up to date as I plan to put that in over the weekend.
The standard order isn’t right for me. The change required is noted here. Many thanks.

Ideas for tastings

Following this observation There are several more tastings in my mind for the next couple of years... I thought it would be useful to have a place to list ideas. I'l start with a few, and as others suggest, I'll extend the list accordingly. Names in brackets are who made the suggestion, which need n...

Re: 1991 Horizontal, Mon 09 Dec 2019, at The B&F

Thanks to George for getting us organised on this one. Aside from three ports that were flawed in some ways, the rest were enjoyable though unremarkable. The Croft and the Vargellas were both a notch above the rest of the field, most of which had sweetness and red fruit, but lacked some weight and w...

Re: Thurs 28th Nov Berry Bros Port Walk

The usual format for the port walk. I thought the ports from the ’70s were unspectacular, the T70 being the better of the lot, but all were lacking some sparkle. T92 was very nice, the second time to taste this in a month, it has a certain jammy taste which might lead me to question if it will last ...

Re: Rebello Valente, and de la Rosa, Thu 21 Nov 2019, Boot & Flogger

Many thanks to Phil for organising and also to those who assisted with decanting/pouring. Perhaps only one or two weaker showings on the night, and many fine ports. A great privilege to have Sophia, Philip and Kit in attendance and willing to share many little bits of history surrounding some of the...

25% opacity. Didn't write a note, but from memory, lighter than would be expected of a '77 from magnum, lacked backbone, a bit flabby and simple.
