As they say on FTLOP a lot... +1

Hadn’t realised how cheap it could be... I might build 2 at the end of the garden. Now I just need 400 cases too! 🤔
You only need one case of Port and 399 cases of water to get going 😉

Yes, although it's CaF I am additionally providing as opposed to Ca.
CáF most welcome, thank you sir.
Indeed. But doesn't that mean we have an obvious gap? 🙄

Re: The wine shed - a concept, and some horrible maths..

you won't have to go trekking up the Suffolk coast whenever you need a particular bottle! That raises the question of whether or not a willpower coefficient should be incorporated into the maths. My present solution requires no willpower whatsoever as I can't get to Suffolk when an overwhelming thi...

My doctor says that the uncomfortable tightness I feel in my torso is caused by multiple problems: ‘Cockburn 1912 deficiency syndrome’, ‘Cockburn 1927 deficiency disorder’, and perhaps also ‘Cockburn 1900 deficiency malady’. Surely my friends will rescue me from these terrible medical ailments? By ...

Re: The wine shed - a concept, and some horrible maths..

This is all very impressive stuff from a technical perspective, but given the apparent complexity of building the optimum wine shed I am very happy that I am paying Seckford Wines £7.30 per case per annum with insurance at replacement value included in the cost :D

Magnus,

Please let me think about this for an appropriate length of time...

...yes please 😁

I might be able to help with logistics but will need to check.

There might not be a guest. We might wear our own cufflinks.
If no guests have been invited then there I would vote for it being 14 of us. Cufflinks should be compulsory.

Re: Cockburn Vertical, October 2018

Is there still stock of the '77 that was gifted to us after the tasting ten years ago? That stock was entrusted to four of our group, and is now mildly depleted. I still have one or two (I need to check), and that is the bottle I mentioned earlier - which comes free of any re-balancing of finances....

Re: Cockburn Vertical, October 2018

Currently I'm free on either the 2nd or the 16th so would be happy to go with Tom's and Julian's preference for the 2nd. I'd rather not re-taste the vintages younger than 1977. They're not great. And SFE vintages are still too young to be at their best. If we restrict the tasting to vintages 1977 a...

I am in the "Will play" camp, but the preceding posts by Cookie and AHB make me think this is not the time to include the NN63.

I am afraid that if the NN is included then KMH and I will have to withdraw on the grounds of cost....sorry . :( Then I’d like to change my vote and now also vote against the inclusion of the NN. I don’t want anyone to be excluded from a tasting on the grounds of cost. There will be other times whe...

Probably a stupid question, but being as I'm from this side of the pond and I don't know I'll ask. Who's in the picture above the fireplace? That's Wolfgang wearing the outfit he had to put on for the final ceremony where he swore allegiance to the Queen, the whole Queen and nothing but the Queen. ...

Re: Deep thought..

I can't remember how many bottles of Fonseca 1970 or 1985 were filled in 1972 or 1987, but I know it was a lot — let's say it was 10,000 12 bottle cases of each. That means in 2020 we'd expect there still to be around 1,250 cases of each in 2020 / 2035. That seems reasonable. I have a case of F70 a...

I note that currency symbols (£,€ and $) are being used for the spare spaces on the placement. Given the occasion, and putting aside any pedantic objections, perhaps "DM" could replace "$"?
