Perhaps 3 bottles of FG 1996, since they will be 69 years old between them. Although technically the brief is "a" bottle of port, so perhaps not.
Though if you had a tregnum...

Tue 29th October 2019 - "69"

Half-term comes early this year, which makes a tasting celebrating my 50th in London possible without colliding with my wife's birthday, half term, or bonfire night; I therefore propose to organise a tasting on Tuesday 29th Oct at B&F. Date: Tue 29 Oct 2019 Time: 6pm Location: B&F Theme "69" - bring...

Re: Pointless Statistics

As I enjoy reading the same from others, here is my own updated cellar stats looking back over the last year. At the of the start of 2019, my cellar comprises the following (2018 values in brackets for comparison): Port by type: 80% Vintage/SQVP (81%) 7% LBV (9%) 3% Crusted (3%) 10% Tawny/colheita/w...

Re: Level detector?

So if all goes well, we just have to mount the laser table in some form of portable unit like a backpack with connected hand instrument, and probably wear protective goggles; likely we'd also need a protective suit for health and safety in case of contaminated bottles or breakage. Then we'd be suita...

I haven't been buying a lot in the last few years, but this isn't my experience!
Agreed. Perhaps it more reflects a more accurate assessment following 2017/prior over-estimation, rather than any recent drop. Very interesting to see the assessment comparison however.

"They say I used apostrophys wrong - fake news! Fake news. We have the best apostrophys, they just didnt understand what I said. Fake news, so sad." Is it childish to point out there's no "y" in apostrophe/apostrophes; or the missing punctuation in "didn't" when it's clearly a popular representatio...

A shame, but not surprising; always worth a try. Glad you had a second bottle handy, and enjoyed that one. Thank you for coming back and letting us know.

Re: Help with unlabeled bottle

As Andy mentions, since this bottle has a T-stopper, this will be a port which was originally intended for immediate drinking, such as a simple ruby, ruby reserve, or a filtered LBV. Such ports were not intended for aging in the bottle, and will degrade slowly over time, however as long as stored we...

Draft of food order . CHECK YOUR ORDER. IF YOU DIDN’T CHECK, AND IT’S WRONG, IT’s YOUR FAULT. PLEASE CHECK IT NOW. Not wrong. However if this reply seen in time, I would like "Flatbread, lemon & coriander houmous" (listed under bar snacks rather than starters on current menu) as a starter instead o...

Re: Thu 13th December - The Port Forum 2018 Xmas Bash

I'm going to have to drop from the Xmas tasting this year due to other commitments confirmed yesterday (coincidental timing given Alex's reminder).
Please make my space available for a reserve.

Personally, I'd stop at the 85; I might have been tempted to include 94, but not 2000.

I can't make it, but there is already an emergency next Tue, if you haven't seen.

Re: Krohn Mini Vertical - End March????

Would be interested, subject to date; I have only the '70.
I would prefer to have RV on a separate occasion (and will be extremely keen to join for that, and have been trying to pick up occasional RV in preparation for this).

Maybe it is a secret lucky sign and if you contact Warre they will send you the rest of the pipe! That would make it a very lucky four leaf clover :D PhilW - probably won't help, but I'll upload a photo of the whole cap. Nothing else on bottles as they're unlabelled. Thanks; you can probably guess ...

Does the bottle have any other marks or embossing on the bottle?
