Re: 1987 Dow Bomfim

I cannot help but feel that the score at which I arrived ultimately does not do justice to this wine. Put another way, I liked it a great deal more than the solid, albeit unspectacular numerical result would suggest. If your feel the score you are giving does not appropriately match the wine you ar...

On the assumption that Youtube live is essentially one-way (video/audio from Oscar to us, none to him - possibly messaging?), shall we Zoom in parallel?

Re: One quiz at a time

Since this is (at times) pedants' corner, I feel I should highlight that "1" is not generally considered to prime, which would be a potential barrier to Doggett's reply. That said, I have yet to be convinced that the definition of primality should necessarily be such as to cause the number "1" to be...

Re: Taylor's Terra Feita Vertical

@ PhilW - My intention was specifically not to cut across the contemplated TTF v TV taste-off, which is a worthy and serious and larger project, but, stimulated by the unabashed pleasure derived from the consumption of TTF 2005, merely to suggest we might enjoy a separate single-focus TTF event. I ...

Re: Taylor's Terra Feita Vertical

List extended to 14 persons. I don't want to fuzz the focus of this tasting by introducing comparative TVs but, on reflection, a few port tastings where we come in some way below a bottle a head is not a bad thing. Between those declaring their holdings we already have everything other than the 199...

Quinta de la Rosa - 20% off wines offer

Sophia Bergqvist of Quinta de la Rosa has asked me to pass on this offer to members of The Port Forum. While Quinta de la Rosa has had to close their hospitality services (hotel, restaurant) to minimise any risk to our customers and staff during the current situation, their online sales are still on...

My assumption too
Mike's zoom invite is for 19:00, so I was assuming then. Seems likely people may come & go?

Re: RE: Re: Another virtual tasting

Can I suggest that in honour of our mystery guest we adopt a theme of "Open a bottle of Quevedo Port, if you can." I think it might be more fun for our guest to guess a range of whatever we open just as one of us, rather than all being his own wines tbh (unless it was his own but he didn't know ofc...

Re: Tue 14 and Thu 16 April 2020: Virtual Tasting with Johnny Graham

I think this is an excellent move by Churchill's in the current situation. However, while their choice for the wine tasting is their best wines (costing 60, 45 and 35 euros per bottle), their choice for the port tasting is their relatively basic port set of ruby reserve, 10yr tawny and dry white. In...

Mourão, and it's 60 years old An excellent guess, and perhaps a good memory since the current releases of white Mourãos are I believe the 50yr and the 90yr; I do indeed have a bottle of the Mourão 60yr white, however that is not the bottle I have opened (and now mostly consumed).
