Re: Individual Port for Sale
Josh You have a nice selection of Ports for sale. I would expect that you’ll receive a few offers from the people who read the forum. One request though. Vintage Port is best stored lying down. It is essential that it is kept out of the light, ideally somewhere the temperature is steady, cooler is b...

Re: Pointless Statistics
Would you believe it, this is my 10th annual posting of pointless statistics? I also had a look back to that first post and have noted how things have changed over the decade in italics. At the end of 2018, I had a cellar which was composed of: 90.4% Port (90.8% last year ; 82% in December 2008 ) 3....

Hello AJP.
If you're not busy tomorrow night and are in London, please do consider dropping by the Boot & Flogger after 6.30 and saying hello! It would be a pleasure to meet you — and perhaps even share a little of our Port with you! And JDAW will be there to sign your book for you...

It seems prices for the 1977s have gone up since 1983.

Re: Port for sale by retailer
My local Tesco has just stocked its shelves with the new Tesco Finest Vintage Port, this one is also from the Symingtons but is now the 2007 vintage. Still £20 a bottle (at full price). Next to it is the Malvedos 2004, currently reduced from £27.50 to also be £20 per bottle.

If anyone has a copy of Decanter from December from a year before 2017, please do post the prices from those earlier editions.

Are Vintage Port prices increasing
Clearing out a cupboard this morning I found a copy of Decanter Magazine from December 2017. By coincidence I also had a copy from December 2018 so I thought I would do a comparison of the Port prices given in their Fine Wine Price Watch over the course of 12 months. To my surprise, I found prices a...

Remind me, are we allowed to report posts by people who have American English as their first language or is this thread just for the admonishment re-educationof the native English speaker?

But a very entertaining novella it was too. Not sure I enjoyed the (very well chosen) reference to Lucretius. A hint of smug schadenfruede echoed in his poem.
Hope you're well Daniel!

I have been pleased with my Climadiff, which has run smoothly since purchase. The only slight irritation I have with it is that the door can only be hinged on the rights, which makes access more difficult than it needs to be.
Of course, that could have changed in the years since I bought mine.

Re: Berisford Vintage Character Port
There's a brief mention of the brand and the importer on the Sherry Notes website, but nothing substantive that I can find. It seems to be a brand that was in use in the UK in the '70s but didn't last.
Gilberts, if I recall correctly, is one of the brands now owned by Ferreira.

2016 Pintas
Narrow purple rim. A fresh blackcurrant nose, more fragrant and pronounced than the 2015 shown alongside. Deep sweet fruit on the palate, immensely elegant and refined. Big on the palate with powerful tannins that grip firmly but soften to allow through a beautiful fragrance on the late palate. A ma...

Re: The Book, ‘Port Vintages’, is for sale
Should we start a thread on TPF to help the author with his second edition? We could create a list of Ports we encounter which are not mentioned in the book, along with photographic evidence to back up our findings.

Re: Virtual Tasting?
December 26 would work for me. We're hosting 12 members of the family during the day so by the time we get to the evening, I'll need a drink!
Only disadvantage for me of that date is I am working on 27th December so can't go too far into the night (UK time).

Re: Hotel or Restaurant Price List of the Week
At the Don Restaurant if you ask them nicely they will show you the original cellars, they even gave my wife and I a free glass of tawny each. As for Vintage Ports I saw last week a single opened bottle of Grahams 2000 in a High Holborn pub that specialises in beers, I asked the barman who advised ...

Re: Graham's, CLWS, 5th December 2018
That's a very nice line up, giving everyone a good chance to see where their personal preference lies in terms of the maturity of the wines with some very good mini-verticals (like '83 vs '85 or '00 vs '97 vs '94). Pity the '83 was corked. Personally, I think the 2004 Malvedos is still too young to ...

I too have a Vintage Port season, although mine starts a little earlier than yours. My season tends to start with the return to school at the start of September. It then runs through the winter and spring until the family disappears off for our annual summer holiday on August, at which point I stop ...

Thu 13th Dec - The Christmas Offline
Many thanks to Tom for hosting us in the White Horse in Newport for our annual Christmas get-together. 9 of us were able to make it and we had a good evening with a much better success rate than we did last year. Gradually I will post tasting notes and create threads for the wines we tasted, but the...

Re: Thu 13th December - The Port Forum 2018 Xmas Bash
We have two spare seats at the Xmas bash due to late dropouts and reserves not being available at short notice. One of those seats has been offered to WG but I am waiting for a reply from him. The other seat is available to anyone who can be in Newport (Essex) at 18.30 on Thursday. If that’s you, pl...
