Re: 2016 Skeffington

Sk16 Deep Ruby red but a bit duller than some in colour. Good fruits on nose and palate, lots of acidity, but well balanced. A very drinkable port and looks to be a good buy for the longer term from the budget end.

T16 Med/deep ruby red with a purple rim. Beautiful nose. Lots of sweet red fruit, prunes and and blackberries. Smooth, rich and sweet but with good balanced acidity and tannin. Wonderful finish that fills the palate and lives long. This port got better and better as the night went on and a small sa...

V16 Deep ruby red with purple tinge, lovely nose. Sweet, smooth and silky on the palate. Long finish with well balanced acidity. A beautiful port but paled a bit against the special Capella release.

Re: 2016 Quinta do Vesuvio Capela

VC16 Deep Ruby Red. Very slight purple tinge to the rim, more so than the standard Vesuvio. Softer on the nose than the standard release but a much richer and complex palate. Very silky smooth, rich, sweet but with wonderful balance and lots of red and black fruit showing. My WOTN. It really was de...

S16 Deep Ruby Red. Huge nose. Lots of red fruit, raspberry compote, but not reductive. Great acidity and tannins. A very finely balanced port. Even nicer than the sample tasted at the b.f.t. Sandeman masterclass earlier this year that I gave 93 points to. Great potential.

Re: Cockburn Vertical, Tue 2nd Oct 2018

Reconfirming please. The Ck70 I have is mid shoulder and possibly not of the quality that is required for a tasting of this magnitude and importance so it would be better if I adopt please, as I don’t have another bottle to offer other than a 1991, which I don’t think will be required.

A last minute opportunity to attend has presented itself if there is room for one more? I would not need to add to the food order and won’t be able to get there until 19-19.30 either, but would love to join the tasting and would be bringing a 1970 Souza VP bottled by Hall & Bramley.
