Re: BBR VP Tasting-Tuesday 22 September 2020

Berry Brothers & Rudd Selection In some vintage years there is a “Berry Brothers & Rudd” Vintage Port, sold by the eponymous wine merchant. The sources are shown, as kindly revealed by Berry Brothers & Rudd.            The list sent by Berry Brothers & Rudd started in 1960, so did not reveal the sh...

n.b. to anyone - I have no photo of the BBR77 either, so if anyone has one and could send me a label (and capsule?) image, please? Permission granted. I’ll send you the hi-res version. Please also send to me (max resolution please), and allow it to be used in a later version of the Addendum . Thank...

For those who attended the 1970 horizontal in 2009, can you recall if the Messias was not actually Messias Cachão? This post seems to confirm that there was no 1970 Messias.

I have Kopke St Luiz and Gonzalez Byass, both from known good stock, with back-up bottles available.

Perhaps ad-hoc abbreviation is sufficient … but don't add them to the canonical list?
Works for me.

Also, perhaps this should be stickied and/or moved to the reference section for easier, er, reference (and move list to first post in thread?).
Done: moved to the Reference section.

I have Royal Oporto, Dalva, Santos Junior and Borges. I'll put them aside as I suspect they will be adopted. I'll keep an eye out for any others.
Thank you.

Re: Port House abbreviations

Disagree. That same argument would invalidate our use of BBR for their buyer's own brand ("Berry's Own Selection" as opposed to other BBR-bottled wines which identify the producer). The Thienpont label does not list the producer, so this is a buyer's own brand of Thienpont (see Axel's label, with o...

What is or was the relationship between BN and Tp (if a stand-alone abbreviation, my preference)?
George Thienpont. Also, a purchase by Gerwin. And by Axel. Perhaps this is simply BN70 bottled by Thienpont, in which case not meriting an abbreviation?
Bottler, so this is BN.

Marks & Spencer own selection … MAS If M&S is to be as long as three big characters, why not “M&S” (which has precedent )? Thienpont (Butler Nephew) What is or was the relationship between BN and Tp (if a stand-alone abbreviation, my preference)? Flagman Fg is too near FG. So Fm seems natural, thou...

Yes: “.T” needs kerning; “.t” doesnʼt, or at least, it matters much less.

Re: Software that makes placemats

Next question, is about branding, but likely as not the most consistent usage is in the software and its output. Are we PascalCase (www.ThePortForum.com) or camelCase (www.thePortForum.com)? Current usage is PascalCase; but there would be less need for kerning with camelCase. Currently we use Pascal...

Placemats created . My bugs, or yours? (E.g., spacing in Circlearrays .
