Re: Thu 19 Oct 2017; Mature V.P. or L.B.V.; Boot & Flogger

A fine evening with great company - good to meet Jacques and Alex M. The theme delivered five excellent ports, and a great advertisement for storing away some LBV for the long run.

Sediment is perfectly normal. This is why the port needs to be decanted through a filter. Cheesecloth is great if you have some.

Re: Cockburn Smithes & Co (1950)

HI there, and welcome to the forum. You can read some tasting notes on the Cockburn 1950 here . A splendid idea to open the bottle and enjoy it with your grandfather. Judging from the few tasting notes here on the forum, I would open and decant the port a couple of hours before you intend drinking i...

What time are we kicking off? Shall I print?
I expect to be there, with Jacques Cailloux, only a mite before 6½pm. So yes please.
Printing complete.
Decanting completed at 1345.
I should be there around 1745.

To facilitate decanting and pre-pouring, I've just printed the neck tags, cork display sheets and pre-pour sheets so — whoever is printing — please save yourself some weight and only print the voting sheets, placemats and tasting note sheets.
Thanks for the note Alex!

Re: Tue 10 Oct - A Gould Campbell vertical

Could someone please make a quick check of the food order. I have ordered the same as me for CSD, and will update if he advises he wants something different. And if he can't make it, then RLC is in play and this is also what he would like to order.

I should be able to get there a little early to help with pouring, so can also bring the printed placemats.

As Alex noted above, eight was a fine number of people for sharing port. Ben's G70 took WOTN. I seemed to prefer the older stuff - Julian's Ck67 and my Ck63.
