I have no ’65s. Would you be excessively offended by a Fonseca 1966?
Shabby stuff Julian - I think you should bring two to compensate!

I have been asked to rephrase my earlier post. So here goes: I think you’ve got a cheek considering the time and effort members of this forum took in answering your query. Perhaps on reflection you might reconsider your remarks.
Your original post did bring a chuckle though

Re: Mystery tasting notes

This was an event I organised for some work colleagues, and you were also a guest 😀

I should probably sort out a review thread, then you can post notes.

1977 Fonseca

40% opacity, rich red. Lively nose, red fruits. Full, rich mouthfeel, gentle heat, cranberries and strawberries. Great balance, smooth, sweet, with a long aftertaste of red fruit. Very nice! More like a ‘70 than a ‘77.

I can get there for about 16:30. 3pm is quite early if only 8 bottles to be decanted? I can stop by the office and print the placemats if needed, just let me know. I'll bring a few funnels and filter cloth.

Excellent. Perhaps the London tasting should hold back our notes and write-up until after this event, then we can compare notes without any bias creeping in.

1975 Fonseca (half)

20% opacity, ultra clear, copper orange. Lovely rich sweet cherry nose, with tertiary notes of leather. Smooth entry, nicely balanced, mid weight. Cherries, slightly drying out, just enough acidity to give structure. Huge long aftertaste of cherries. A real surprise this, for a 1975. Just at the inf...

Re: Quinta do Cachao Vertical Weds 13 FEB 2019

I still have the room booked if we want to do something else (and a little less logistically challenging). How about we use the 13 Feb for a 1970 theme.
