Pre The Big Fortified Tasting?

Are there any thoughts on arranging a tasting the night before TBFT as in the good old days?

It might or might not be, you never know in Porto. It is the same company- but to know if it is the same juice inside the bottle you have to ask a port wine expert.

Re: Seeking input on bottle of 1927 vintage Port

To me this looks genuine and most likely a colheita port of the vintage 1927. Perhaps bottled a couple of decades later and could then very well be imported after the prohibition.

From the same source, also acquired a stock of Ferreira 45, Tuke Holdsworth 47, Mackenzie 48, Boa Vista 50 and Delaforce 58. Given they're all quite rare I might arrange a tasting in early 2019 if there's sufficient interest... Venue would probably be 67 Pall Mall. That sounds like a wonderful tast...

Re: 2016 Declarations

To be accurate, most VP's don't come from just one Quinta. Even "SQVP's", by law, can have a small amount from other Quinta's and still be called a SQVP. Are there rules for SQVP? I thought that SQVP is not at all regulated by the law nor IVDP? Legally it is a Vintage Port, everything els...

Re: Quinta do Cachao Vertical FEB 2019

Until 2009 the production was labeled as Quinta do Cachao To my understanding the labels "Messias" and "Quinta do Cachao" were used on different markets for the same wine until the vintage of 2007. As of 2009 "Messias" and "Quinta do Cachao" are two different...

I have a few Dow 72 as well as Dow 80. 1972 is not a very good year though, suffering from the alcohol scandal of using synthetic industrial spirit for the fortification (1972-1974). Dow 1972 is one of the better 1972's though. I also have a few of the, Dow's Quinta do Bomfim 1980, that is much more...

Does Cruz 1992 exist?

I have information that Cruz vintage 1992 has been made. However, all pictures and auction results from the past I can find shows Cruz Colheita "vintage", that is obviously a harvest and not a vintage. Does anyone on this forum know if Gran Cruz vintage 1992 exists?

Re: Stacking cases more efficiently

Stacks make FIFO (First In First Out) difficult though. I tend to want to use the older bottles at the bottom first and it is a lot of work to take out the bottom bottle from a stack, and thus I prefer to have the cases on shelves. When stacks are needed same size does save a lot of space and are mu...

Re: Companhia Uniao dos Vinhos do Porto e Madeira Lda?

It is for sure five different labels, but it might be the same juice in all bottles. As always it is difficult to know when different labels are used by the same Port producer.
