Thanks again for all your info.
One of your comments sparks another question: 20 yo is just a flavour profile? Are there general flavour profiles that all producers adhere to? And 20 yo tawny does consist of tawny port all minimum 20 yo right? Or is that another whisky parallel gone awry?

Re: Is it misleading to sell a 79-88 colheita as 36 yo?
Thanks for your reply. Because I am traditionally a whisky drinker, I am even stricter than that. I felt it was a 9 yo colheita, that just hasn't been opened in the past 27 years. I draw the parallel with whisky because, like whisky, colheita doesn't age in the bottle, but only in the barrel. So a 1...

Is it misleading to sell a 79-88 colheita as 36 yo?
Hi there, I am currently in contact with the auctioneer of a big auction house. I messaged him that I felt they made a mistake in the description of a bottle of colheita. They clearly stated it was a 1979 colheita, and that it was 36 yo. I therefore assumed it to be bottled in 2015. However, the bot...

Re: Questions about tawny, colheita and vintage years
Awesome response. Even though I was wrong about a LOT of things, I have not been able to find answers to these questions with a couple of evenings worth of Google, so I'm pretty grateful for your extensive explanations. Now the question that remains is: How do you know whether or not you are buying ...

Questions about tawny, colheita and vintage years
Hi guys, I'm sort of a newbie at this whole port thing, so I'm hoping you bear with me. Recently I discovered the fact that a 1999 Colheita I bought was much better than the 10 yo Tawny by the same house. This got me wandering and reading about tawny style port, and I have the following questions: -...

Introduction
Hi there, I'm a dutch guy who used to be mainly into whisky, up until an after dinner ferreira 20 in a Portuguese restaurant caught my interest. Since that point friends and I have been drinking Tawny ports like the Graham's/Dow's/Kopke 10/20/30 yo tawnies. And ferreira whenever someone would fly to...
