Re: 1994 Warre (cask sample)
I've previously tasted the "conventional" W94 at BBR port walks in 2016 and 2019. This was comparable to those two, but noticeably less tannic which I think would be the half-bottle rather than necessarily a cask vs regular bottling.

1994 Warre
1994 Warre, half-bottle cask sample (with T-stopper). Opened to breathe 2 hours before drinking. Rich blackcurrant to start, followed by blackberry jam and a long finish with some tannic grip under the sides of the tongue. Outstanding. I find I prefer the profile of younger Warre over older (40+ yea...

1977 Graham
Unknown storage conditions. Double-decanted and then tasted 6 hours and 30 hours later. Minimal opacity and faded colour to a mid-orange, not promising. 6 hours in: Short entry, dominated by spirit and tobacco taste. Drinkable, but not much liked. 30 hours in: much better, gained some hints of red c...

Could I be added as a reserve please? I have the 1992 Passadouro (plus an appropriate amount to make up a fair value contribution), might get a Churchill Agua Alta, if there's interest.

1982 Palmer Colheita (bottled 2021)
From 60ml, bottled 2021. From Barão de Vilar, part of the Palmer Decades Book of Port. A rare tasting note from me (take with a handful of salt), but given only one other in the index for this shipper... Red-brown colour. Some nice caramel and soft red fruit, but quite musty on the nose and hot on t...

Re: Day trip up the Douro Valley
Thanks Alex and Derek, I went to Quinta de la Rosa and Bomfim last time I was in the Douro valley, so was looking for other options. I have heard of a picnic at Roeda, so might try that and would then make sure we visit Tedo. If needs be we can skip the Sandeman visit (although I haven’t been to Sei...

Re: Day trip up the Douro Valley
When looking into visiting Q’ta do Vesuvio, I came across: http://milesaway.pt/projects/quintas/?lang=en Perhaps others on this forum have heard of this particular guide? A very interesting guide, not one I'd heard of before. Hmm, I hadn’t found that either when searching for Vesuvio visits, thanks...

Re: Day trip up the Douro Valley
After reading through the many notes here, the latest plan is the following (unless Vesuvio does indeed take visitors): Train Porto - Pinhao, quick lunch Walk to Quinta da Roeda Taxi to Quinta do Seixo Taxi to Quinta do Tedo (tapas dinner here, or in castas e pratos in Regua) Taxi to Regua & tra...

Day trip up the Douro Valley
I'm planning a day trip up the Douro for 6-8 people in May and looking for a little advice. All of the group enjoy port, with varying degrees of knowledge (half have been to Porto before). I've previously been to the Douro valley and visited Quinta do Bomfim and Quinta de la Rosa on foot from Pinhao...

Sourcing T stoppers
We have a big event coming up next month, for which we will need to double decant ~15-18 bottles of vintage port. I'd like to put T stoppers in and don't know where to source them (and I'm not able to drink 15 bottles of tawny in the next 4 weeks). Any ideas? If not, then any alternatives that we co...

Re: Offline 3rd July B&F Red Room - Bring a bottle to share (sighted)
A thoroughly enjoyable evening in excellent company and a big thank to you all those who joined me on my return to the UK. Two special events of the evening that will live long in the memory: England won a match on penalties; many thanks to Christopher for providing a truly special bottle, the 1815 ...

Great, thank you.
Could I check if decanting the Ck63 8 hours beforehand works? I’d prefer to double decaf at home before heading into town.
