You got me there...
I guess I should try it once, but it's awful hard to find Cruz over here. I did see many bottles of 1989 VP Cruz in Porto for about 18 euro, but somehow I passed...

At the Croft lodge I noticed there was still a large stack of Morgans 1991 left. Seems like you can extend the experiment for quite a while. (Croft 1991 btw is one that can be left alone for a fair bit). Can't say that I've had too many ports of these vintages, but the ones that seemed ready: - Kopk...

Actually I'm on Firefox now and it's behaving. I think that it's my version of Windows (2000 SP4) that causes me all the problems. Buy a Mac. It makes you happy. :) And the best thing about it is that you don't have to deal with Internet Exploder (or Exploiter, just how you look at it) anymore. But...

When I tried this last (about two years ago I think) it still showed pretty young. Could it be that your bottle suffered a bit (given the crumbling cork and the brown colour)?

Hi Alex,

We all had to do the walk of shame. Best thing is to close your nose, take a deep breath and produce 10 posts as quick as you can. It'll leave a nasty aftertaste for a while, but you have plenty of time to wash that away with some 'cheap ruby'.

Alright, seems like your sissy e-mail address can't handle a 42MB attachment. Silly.
I'll try again, this time with a bit of a smaller size picture.

Ah, back for a lazy sunday look at the board. Sipped some of the Vargellas 1995 that I opened last monday. Still going strong and pretty darn good with that still enormous chunk of Stilton. 88)

I will delay that as much as possible. I like the warrior title. It fits perfectly with the action picture of Dries as my avatar.

I made a couple. Height and Width will probably not be ideal, but I can adjust them any way you like (they're crops from bigger pictures) http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1414/587782510_b50c6c9b08.jpg http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1105/587782102_854b12ad50.jpg http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1248/5873...

How about making a deal: next time we meet (which is hopefully soon), we'll track down a bottle of Fonseca 1977 and you can actually have a sip.

And yet another, from April this year: A shock when we opened the bottle: the cork fell right into the bottle when touched. Hmmm. It had not leaked though. Slightly dusty and old straight after decanting, implying that the bottle might have suffered. Massive structure though. After six hours of deca...

2005 Niepoort and others

Tasted March 2007: All these ports were tasted at ProWein, and I only made short notes. The quality of the 2005 ports was impressive. It looks like it will be at least a partly declared vintage, and I know I will be looking out for them. Niepoort 2005 VP (Cask Sample) Very good, jummy flavours and a...
