Freudian, intentional, or none of the above: was this a slip or did you really have a "Port" Pie?

Re: 1857 Bar, St James Hotel & Club, Park Place, London

2/3rds of a Tappit Hen of Graham 1977 @ £75 for 75ml! That is astounding! To me, even more so than Ne Oublie @ £400 for 25ml. That's the equivalent of 2 full bottles sold at a rate of £750/bottle. For a 1977. I have 7 magnums of GC77 that I will hand deliver to anyone willing to pay £750/750ml for ...

Re: Your advice?

Focusing on unfiltered LBVs is not a bad idea in terms of bang for your buck and I would recommend checking Wine Searcher regularly. Search for "Late Bottled Vintage", select UK shops and, ideally also filter for good to excellent years such as 2011 or earlier ones. The benefit of that is ...

Re: Port cocktails

Leafing through the ”J Sheekey Fish” cookery book, I came across the below cocktail recipe. Moderators: if the picture breaches copyright rules then please delete. I would love for some of our budding mixologists (God I hate that word) to make it and report back, including a picture. Edit 1: can’t f...

Of limited use in a UK context perhaps but I recently picked up a few Offley LBV 2015 from a supermarket in Denmark. Alas, Wine Searcher did not yield any UK results.

1985 Fonseca

Summary: Desert island port wonderfully balanced between youth and maturity. Many points today and more in the future. Impossible to be overstocked. Longer version: Decanted Friday evening and followed over three days. Cork was clean and soaked about halfway up, no seepage or dust/mildew at the top ...

Lux-ed received today. Execeptionally well wrapped, almost obsessively so (a good thing surely), in multiple layers of bubble wrap, zip loc bag, paper and what not. Book looks fab, sumptuous leather, gilt-edged paper - wonderful workmanship! Now sitting down to enjoy the cloth bound copy received be...
