Re: Thu 30 Nov 2017, Sandemans and 1970s (for the Placemat Software’s 15th anniversary)

I am likely to be either having or recovering from knee replacements in January so my place should be given to someone who can walk from the tube station to the B&F :( Plural! Both knees? Indeed. My surgeon advises that there might be period when I don't have a leg to stand on. But later I might be...

Re: Upgrade of Forum Software

The software is device responsive and therefore looks slightly different depending on how you are using it. I noticed yesterday that when I view it in landscape mode on my iPhone it looks very similar to the view you posted from Chrome. That's one problem solved. The triple icons still seem to be a ...

Re: Thu 30 Nov 2017, Sandemans and 1970s (for the Placemat Software’s 15th anniversary)

With the absence of the Gandys, we have lost two-thirds of those of the intended attendees who were at the first use of the placemat software, fifteen years ago. {Expletives!} {Expletives!} {Expletives!} I now recall what happened. When this tasting was created the attempt to book a room was reject...

I have attached pictures of the bottle top, showing the levels. The seals are intact as you can see. I am based in Barnet near M25/A1 junction.
I drove past there about four hours ago on my way hoe to Chesterfield

Thanks for the pictures. I will send you a private message.

Re: Port and Madeira inquiry

Hi Paul, I am quite interested in the Cockburn 1961 LBV and the King's College bottles. Could you please let me know roughly where you are in the world and if possible post a picture of the capsules on the top of the bottles so that I can see their condition? Also, if you hold them up to a light can...

I can only assume that this is the way that Google Chrome renders the banner at the top of the page. JDAW - any ideas?

Andy - you are using the default phpBB style, which we have not edited so that is how it is designed to look.

Re: Vintage Port quantities produced each year from 1960's until today?

I believe that the IVDP keeps records of the volume of port sold by category, but doesn't differentiate vintage port from any other type of premium port category. I think the IVDP approves a set quantity of VP for each shipper in each year that sales are presented for approval. However, that doesn'...

Re: Possible fake 1927 VP in Belgium auction this weekend

I think the fact that it clearly says "1927 Tawny" on the capsule tells us that this is not VP, so no mystery there. I agree with Phil that the intricate nature of the capsule is very unusual in a fake. The label does look suspect, but there are plenty of bottles around with facsimile labels made an...

Re: Fonseca Choco 30 years old?

A very rare find. As far as I a aware Fonseca have not made a 30 year tawny since losing a significant part of their cellared Ports when part of the lodge collapsed in 2001. Are you talking about the landslide from the neighbor? If so, That damage took out mostly lower end ruby stocks and very litt...

Re: Glass Opacity

Perhaps we are aiming too low in this world of technological advancement?

Could a device be developed that could "see" inside an unopened OWC to report back on the levels of each of the dozen bottles regardless of the opacity of the glass?
