Re: 2016 Declarations

Given eurozone inflation and changes in the exchange rate (taking the change in sterling to USD to reflect a global price outlook) one might expect a release price increase for the '16s of around 15% over the 2011s. First indications however are suggesting that release prices are being hiked by a w...

Re: Selo under/over capsule

The bottles with the selo under the capsule will have been shipped soon after release. Those with the selo over the top will have been shipped from Oporto many years later. The selo is normally applied immediately before shipping. I don't think they will have been re-corked otherwise the selo could ...

Re: Valuation / sale advice for 25 bottles of Port (London, UK)

Your 1970 and 1977 bottles are excellent. The others are less desirable. As you are near the City perhaps you should contact a wine merchant such as Uncorked or Hedonism and ask if they want to make you an offer? You can get an idea of value by looking at www.winesearcher.com - the prices shown ther...

Excellent. My bottle with three 8's in the vintage is already at the B&F along with a modest but very drinkable back-up.

My Fonseca 1970 is already at the B&F. I plan to be there at some point in the afternoon to decant it. Are there other bottles at the B&F that I should also decant?

I note that Berry Brothers are running a pop up bar in Flat Iron Square on Tuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th May, 17.00-23.30.

I plan to call in on my way to the B&F to see what they might have. Anyone care to join me?
It would seem rude not to. What time?

A reply has been received from Kensington Palace. For reasons that arenʼt obvious, it is labelled “Private and Confidential”, so shouldnʼt be posted here. It will be brought to the tasting.
It is understandable that Harry would want to keep the venue of his stag night a secret.

Sorry chaps - I am having my second knee operation on 21 May so will still be immobile and, more significantly, in an alcohol-free state when this tasting happens.
My knee operation has been delayed due to my current employment status.

Am I still in or on a wait list?

Berry Bro.s surely? https://www.bbr.com/about/shops If you visit BBR you should also visit Fortnam & Mason, which is just a 5-10 minute walk from BBR. You could also try Hedonism in Mayfair, also close to BBR, who have an extensive Port list: https://hedonism.co.uk/wines/fortified-wines/?winetype=F...

Re: Crusted Port Wine Malvedos 1958 in Magnum format

It looks genuine to me.

A little known fact is that in the early days of the use of the brand "Malvedos" the wines didn't come from the quinta - they were from vineyards in the Torto valley. This is probably from that era.

Bottleman,

You are far more likely to attract a buyer here if you would take the time to post a meaningful message describing the condition of the bottle, ideally accompanied by a photograph and letting us know where you are.

There were two obviously flawed bottles, Fonseca and Niepoort, so they are excluded from the answer to the question. Of the others, there was a definite split with a wobbly border. Taylor, Dow, Graham, Croft, Warre and Cockburn definitely alive and well and probably better than five years ago. Noval...

The decanting team will arrive at B&F around 12:30 for a spot of pre-decanting lunch followed by an afternoon of decanting and quality assurance.

If there is a preferred order in which the bottles should be decanted please say so soon.
