Re: YouTube of Cockburn Bicentennial tasting

It was a good video; there are a couple of other written reports on the same event around somewhere. Of significant interest to me also was the inclusion in the tasting of a 1969 Cockburn, which I has not previously known existed. Having had and enjoyed the unreleased '45 and '77 at a previous verti...

No chance for me I'm afraid on this date. Hope to see folks again for the GC tasting, if reserve spots open up.

For the purposes of testing this you could force the software to output CMYK or RGB somewhere on the sheet.
Brilliant. Done. Old files replaced.
Surely the best approach would be a CMYK to RGB colour-space conversion performed in post-script? ;)

Testing a deeper black: does CMYK print as a deeper black than RGB? Please print the first page of each and report back. Thank you
Very marginal, but CMYK very slightly darker and better defined than RGB as printed on Dell C1760nw laser.

Any thoughts on suggested themes?
How about "At sixes and sevens" - any mature VP with 6 or 7 in the year, to start at 6 with food at 7?

Re: 1987 Delaforce Quinta da Corte

Second half at D+24hr.
Has not lasted well, now slightly spicy, candy-sweet, but quite hollow and short and not well balanced. Definitely much, much better on the first evening after short decant.

1987 Delaforce Quinta da Corte

Short decant perfectly sufficient (2hr+). Fully mature, but still plenty of fruit, about 50% opaque. Soft, full of brambles, red cherries and blackberries with gentle sour acidity cutting across, with hint of lemon. Quite short on the finish, but very smooth and enjoyable.

Inspired by Sten to ignore the weather, I have a tasty Delaforce (Quinta da Corte) 1987 open this evening, despite the temperature (about 25C).

Re: Quinta Do Noval dating, help!

Hi Andy; the silver capsule is indeed typical of the Noval LB; Have a look at the right-hand bottle in this image for a comparison against the lettering stencilled on your bottle. That bottle style was certainly in use during the 60s (specifically, very similar bottles used for LBV (vs LB) produced ...

No luck searching here, though one possible source might be the Gaumont Pathe archive of Gaumont documentaries. Online video search/access is only available to registered news personnel, but direct contact to the organisation might be worth a try.

Re: Summer Thirst, Wednesday 9th August 2017

We should rename this thread into thirst in the rain! Rain? What is rain? I have heard stories, handed down from generation to generation, of this weather phenomenon. But it is merely a myth; a story told to young children to give them hope. Our "summer" weather yesterday was around 30mm of rain an...

1983 Rebello Valente

I've very much enjoyed the few Rebello Valente vintages I have had the opportunity to try, not seen very often in the UK, and this half-bottle was given to me by someone who knew that (thank you again, if you're reading this!). I had not tried the RV83 before, and considering ’83 overall to be a gen...

Re: Can anyone help us?

I can't see a "Garret" or "Garett" (you've provided two different spellings above); could it be "Garnett Bros." (later "Garnetts" - no apostrophe), a Wine and Spirits merchant of Sheffield? They were trading across across the required date, though I have no idea if they were substantial enough to ha...

From a BBC article entitled "Drinking a few times a week 'reduces diabetes risk'" :

"The researchers concluded that drinking moderately three to four times a week reduced a woman's risk of diabetes by 32% while it lowered a man's by 27%, compared with people drinking on less than one day a week."
