Re: BBR port walk 2017
I have never been at the BBR port walk. Is it worth while to travel from Sweden to attend next time? How many vintage ports, roughly, are served? The list just above is fairly typical of the range of ports on offer at the BBR port walk. The bottles are arranged on tables around the room, everyone i...

Re: Warm-up for the BFT: Something nice from the 60s
You currently have me bringing the Av63 which is not correct; it's Wolfgang S bringing the Av63, with myself bringing a T63 (one of the components) - unless Ian has a T63 (I need to make sure I can find mine!) in which case I have another alternative.

Re: Tue 10 April 2018, A Second Wind for 1963s?, Boot & Flogger
This was a very interesting and enjoyable evening, with a significant spread of port quality. There were three faulty bottles: Fonseca, Niepoort and Offley; the Offley was undrinkable, the Fonseca was tolerable but not good, and the Niepoort looked and tasted wrong, though it had some interesting co...

Re: 1963 Niepoort
Murky in colour, unfortunately this was not in great condition; there was some underlying complexity providing hints of what this wine might be, but the flavour had probably been somewhat stripped through filtering at decant (understood to have been filtered twice to try and resolve the haze). I had...

Fruit thinning slightly, but plenty of backbone/grip and improving as the evening progressed. My 3rd place for voting.

This was a bit rough, nowhere near as good as the CaF63 tasted at last year's Calem vertical. This one was quite rough, and had slight toffee notes.

Good, less fruit than some of the better 63s showing alongside but well balanced with light citric notes.

Lovely, sweet red cherries, enjoyable. Only just pipped for my 3rd place by the Constantino, and 4th overall for the group also.

Good, but not as good as some D63 tasted previously, this one seemed to have some hollowness to the taste. Still enjoyable, but not all it could be. Better liked by the group who rated it third overall.

A delicious bottle in excellent condition. Full and well balanced with plenty of backbone, quite sweet with red cherries; not quite typical Taylor, but a delicious bottle in excellent condition. Clearly WOTN for me, and for the group was WOTN jointly with the Croft.

Another bottle from the pipe sold at Bonham's in 2016 (see previous case tasting here); despite a decent colour and no evidence of seepage (intact cork and capsule prior to decanting), this was sadly quite faulty to taste.

Re: Warm-up for the BFT: Something nice from the 60s
Since my Ni63 is needed in April I tend to bring a Harvey 1962 for this tasting, but could also bring a Sandeman 63. comments please Sandeman 63 please! (so we can do the Avery components comparison). Having heard from Axel that his S63 is not of sufficient condition to make the trip for this tasti...

Re: Second wind for 1963s? Tuesday 10 April 2018
Following up from the tasting; Axel was unfortunately unable to join us at the last minute due to airline personnel strikes; as his bottles had already been decanted, there was nothing we could do in that regard. It has therefore been suggested that at some future TPF tasting where Axel joins us, th...

Re: Software that makes placemats
In the latest placemats, why are the "1963" over the shipper different sizes? Draft of the placemats . http://www.jdawiseman.com/2018/20180410_1963s_g0.png http://www.jdawiseman.com/2018/20180410_1963s_v.png In the above, the 1963 over Ck and Mz are clearly smaller than those over G and D; perhaps s...

Re: Second wind for 1963s? Tuesday 10 April 2018
From the other thread it sounds as though the Cr63 delivered to the B&F for the '63 tasting has been drunk (at the '22 tasting last week). Unfortunately I do not have one to offer, but if possible can we locate a replacement as it would be a shame for the Croft not to be present to compare with the ...
