Re: Royal Wedding, May 2018

Should we pick a date now, accepting the risk that it might be a little early or late. ¿Tuesday 22 nd May 2018? Not half term; currently free in my diary. The proposed date works. Should we attempt to meet in Windsor? Looking at the diary / tasting calendar, could we move this forward to 15th May s...

In principle, yes please.

However, please make sure it's not a date in May on or before the 9th since I will be running around like a headless chicken organising the BFT.

Re: What's the value?

You have two unusual bottles and it won't be easy to give you an idea of their value since they are so unusual. The first bottle is a vintage port from a producer who no longer exists - what is the word under and to the right of "DE MOOR"? The second bottle is of a port which has been aged in wood b...

Re: BBR port walk 2017

Sadly I wasn't able to make it this year. Would someone mind posting the list of delicious beverages for me to envy? I just happen to be typing my notes up at the moment. We had on offer the following items of purple happiness: 1) Berry Bros. & Rudd Finest St James's Reserve Ruby Port (from Quinta ...

Re: Tuesday 19th December - 77@40

I have a friend and an historically occasional attendee at TPF events. Although he is not a TPF member, he was at the first TPF offline 10 years ago. Nicos Neocleous would very much like to join us on December 19th, if that would be acceptable to everyone. Nicos is happy to make a monetary contribut...

Re: 2011 Fonseca LBV

Very rich and moreish. A good LBV. It's not bad, is it? Would you mind if I split your tasting note apart from mine? The only reason I'd like to is that your note is based on a different bottle from the one that mine is based on. If we show it as two separate posts on the same wine, it shows up in ...

Why are we assuming that we have to choose one of the three evenings? I am assuming that JDAW is suggesting we meet on all three evenings (and perhaps even for lunch on two days as well, why else would he have suggested five different themes?).

Could you let us know where you are?

It would also be useful if you could tell us when you got these bottles and how they came into your posession.

And if you can post some pictures, that also really helps.

Do we have a spare seat at the '77 tasting? There are a couple of people I met yesterday who might be interested in joining us if that is the case. Re: Great Canal Journeys - Rio Douro

They did define interstellar space quite carefully on the program. It is the point at which Voyager was no longer within the Sun's magneto-sphere and was therefore in the bit of space between stars.

Re: Decanter - Jan 2018 - tasting of 78 x 10 & 20 yr old Tawny Ports

I thought for one moment you were saying that to celebrate their 40th anniversary next year, Decanter had organised a tasting of the 1978 vintage ports plus tastings of 10 and 20 yo tawny. I was impressed by Decanter's dedication to the service of the wine lover. Then I realised that wasn't what you...

Re: Great Canal Journeys - Rio Douro

And now I'm watching a documentary on the Voyager space missions - Voyager was launched in 1977. In the time it has taken for my port to reach the perfect state of maturity which it is now in, the Voyager spacecraft have travelled out of the Solar System and are now in interstellar space. There you ...
