Re: Blind tasting scoring

Works for me.

Scoring is always the privilege of the organiser anyway.

Re: Emergency (@ 67 Pall Mall) - Tues 25 Feb 2020

My bottle was opened Audouze-style at 22.00 yesterday and decanted at 11.00 today.

Looks and smells delicious. And a tiny sip tasted delicious.

Since there seems to be plenty of space, I'd like to bring a guest, ACMS, to this tasting please. He is right-handed.

Re: Three bottles of port to sell

Rich I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you are unlikely to sell these Ports. Late Bottled Vintage Port like these and Reserve Ruby Ports are pretty common. They are intended to be drunk young although they can be kept for a while. They are both made in large quantities and can generally be...

Unless others have the same wines as I have. Many of my list are unusual but by no means rare - several Taylor, Graham, Dow, Sandeman and Ferreira LBVs are on the list.

Is there any etiquette we need to observe when visiting 67 Pall Mall in terms of the wine(s) we bring or you would like us to bring?

Re: 'Bring a port not noted on the tasting notes index as at 1 Feb 2020' - Thursday 12th November 2020, B&F

No plans to purchase a quinta, I can't yet figure out how to generate the income I need to be able to buy adequate supplies of Port once I've used up all my capital buying one. So instead, work continues on the list of options available. Once I look at the wines I have which are not in bond or in ca...

Not including Unknown Shipper Ports, I have identified 102 candidates for me to bring to this tasting. This comprises 5 colheitas, 1 crusted, 13 LBV, 1 ruby, 3 tawny with indication of age, 1 white and 78 vintage or single quinta vintage Ports. Next step is to eliminate anything in sizes smaller tha...

Dixon's Double Diamond

Richard Taylor, of Silchester Cellars, has revived this old Port name and has been importing a 10 Year Old Tawny bearing the Dixon's Double Diamond name for some time. Richard has very generously provided me with two bottles to open at different TPF tastings for us to share. Further bottles are avai...

Re: Latest buy

I recently couldn't turn down the chance to buy three bottles of Fortnum & Mason 2003 Vintage Port (by Niepoort) at a price of £24.75 per bottle, inclusive of VAT. I'm hoping this is the same blend as the standard Niepoort 2003.

To confirm- for the purposes of planning this tasting I have taken a snapshot of the tasting notes index (but not the tasting notes) as at 01/02/20. I have updated the initial post to make that clear.
Perfect, with plenty of clarity.

Re: 'Bring a port not noted on the tasting notes list as at 1 Feb 2020' - Thursday 12th November 2020, B&F

There is a slight flaw in the theme. Unless someone downloads a complete list of all the tasting notes that were on TPF on 1 Feb 2020, we won't know what was there (admitedly we will if we undertake a great deal of painstakingly detailed research, which most won't do). How about a slight variation o...

Rosso English Vermouth by Bolney Wine Estate

This is a white wine based Vermouth made with sloes and elderberries harvested from the hedgerows of the Vineyard (which is well worth a visit for their excellent breakfast and delicious wines) and with herbs and spices from elsewhere steeped together to deliver a distinctive Vermouth. Dark red in c...
