Thanks for the note. I've enjoyed these previously but only have a few left and have been saving them, which appears justified based on your experience. 1980 in general is a better vintage than its reputation suggests (for port at least...)

Popped and poured over thanksgiving. No formal note, but after about 20 minutes the nose opened nicely; the alcohol and sweetness well balanced throughout. I had always thought it was a separate deal, but now that you mention it, I haven't found anywhere online the entity that sold the brand to the Symingtons. Tellingly, there is no Wikipedia for GC, no website for GC, and no acknowledgment that the brand even exists at several Symington establishments...
