Re: 2011 Horizontal - London, Sunday 23rd April 2051

I can reconfirm both my and my sons attendance. Have been itching to taste a few of the 11's this year but must show restraint. I will be celebrating my 80th birthday shortly after this offline -- My father lived to 82 and was enjoying wine until the end, I am pumped!

Re: 2011 Horizontal - London, Sunday 23rd April 2051

Wait list plus 1 please! Will turn 80 within a few months of this onsite, cant think of a better way of celebrating. My son will be 40 (born in 2011) and will be joining me on this trip as he will be a huge port lover based on the 2011 VP collection collection I have amassed for him.

Re: Sell collection

I would be interested but to be honest I would jump on the offer you have for 80% retail. I would be a buyer at at about 50- 60% of your retail price.
Also check out winesearcher as your retail numbers are off. For instance the Graham 63 is available at retail for 275, 283 and 296.

Re: The Book, ‘Port Vintages’, is for sale

Received the book on Tuesday evening. Box was opened on one side and book had been removed from package, placed back into box and box repaired with packing tape. Aside from bent covers and little spine damagd book looks super awesome (love the size of the pages, the font and font size, pictures and ...

Re: The Book, ‘Port Vintages’, is for sale

Super anxious in New York waiting for my single copy of the book. Few bottles of VP from 60's and 70's standing in my cellar waiting to be drank while reading Port Vintages.

Re: New to Port - Got Carried Away at Auction

Welcome to the board. There is a small group of NYC port lovers here that will gladly guide you (via offlines, emails, here on the boards, etc) to more ports and such. I am located on the nassau/suffolk border and have an active wine cellar which I would be happy to store some of your ports for you ...

Re: The Durand corkscrew

Pretty much the durand is my go to opener. I used to use an ah-so most of the of the time so when the durand came out I thought it was a no brainer for me. Have had it for so many years and it has held up wonderfully thus far. Not a wine gadget guy (no aerators, nothing to help my wines open up/brea...

Re: 9 Bottles of Vintage Port For Sale

I concur with Andy, I may be a buyer but not until fall. Overnight shipping is to expensive. What do you consider to be a reasonable offer (retail, wine searcher low, wine searcher low plus 20% off)?

Re: How to serve a G70

I always start off with the intention of letting the port sit in the decanter and open up for 4 to 6 hours but when that window approaches somehow a glass or two is missing. I have since learned that decanting a different bottle of port the day before you want to decant a bottle of port often works ...

NYC 1985 retro

Was wondering if there was any interest in doing a 1985 retrospective on this side of the pond. I can host at my house on Long Island or take the lead on booking a location in Manhattan if its easier for attendees. Was thinking early to middle December. I have about 5-8 different houses from 85 so I...
