Re: Different VP or same wine with labels variants

Thank you, AHB. In the meantime I discovered these two texts/tasting notes (one by Roy Hersh about the same VP but from 2003 and one by a reputed Portuguese wine journalist and critic) that I think may shed some light on this issue: http://www.wineloverspage.com/wlp_archive/port/2003forecast.phtml h...

Re: Different VP or same wine with labels variants

A friend of mine told me that he read somewhere that "Director's Choice" VP was previously called "Poças Junior" VP, being therefore very possible that these two VPs are effectively made from different blends (different Quintas?) and not just different labels. Do you know anythin...

Different VP or same wine with labels variants

An issue already discussed here, but not about this particular case; I have these 2 bottles (see pictures below) by the same Port producer (Poças) and inherent doubts:
- Same VP 2005/blend with different labels (for different markets…)?
- Different VP 2005/juice was used?
Feedback welcome! Thanks.

Re: Wanted: 2005s VP

Thank you jdaw1.
I appreciate any feedback from anyone who can help even by PM.
Please note that these VPs are not included in the 2005 declaration list (see thread 2005 Declarations), so maybe they should be added.

Wanted: 2005s VP

I'm looking for the following VP's 2005:
- Armada (C. da Silva)
- Vale de Abraão (Quinta da Pacheca)
- Quinta das Tecedeiras
By chance, does anyone have these in cellar? or any place or wineshop (locally or online) where I can buy?
Very grateful for any pertinent information or help. Thank you.

Re: Does Cruz 1992 exist?

I believe that Cruz did not release Vintage in 1992, only Colheita and LBV.

Exactly; this particular merchant/bottler (DE MOOR, Amersfoort) seems to have existed in the late 20th century: https://www.europeana.eu/portal/en/reco ... 16edd.html

Re: What's the value?

Some information about Tuke Holdsworth brand have been mentioned in various threads on this forum; additional information: http://www.vintageport.se/house/Hunt.php I think the label "DE MOOR" (the word just to the right could be Amesterdam…) under the main producer label ‘Tuke Holdsworth’ ...

Cálem Vintage Port 2005 - 3 bottles for sale

Cálem Vintage Port 2005 As far as I am aware, this wine is very difficult to find currently on sale (despite being from 2005) and, imho, will be quickly (if not already...) a rarity. Perhaps due the (small?) quantity of cases produced and to the awards collected: http://www.sogevinus.com/2011/12/cal...

My mistake in Niepoort date  (not 2005, but 2011, 2012 and 2014). There is also Quevedo Crusted Port (no bottling date see in the label).

Re: Hello from Porto, Portugal - new member

Thank you, Simon. You are right concerning older Colheitas and Tawnies (despite a negative aspect related to the often deficient storage of these wines in many Portuguese retailers).
If I can help with something about Port wine here in Porto...
All the best,

Re: 2005 Declarations

I bought these wines at Portuguese wine stores in the last 3 years (they rest in my small wine cellar). This year Khron made VP and SQVP (and, also, LBV and Colheita) - see Wiese & Krohn old website - http://www.krohn.pt/en/?/datedports#vintage - before this centenary company was acquired by Fla...

Re: Buying port in Portugal!

Certainly there will be others, but I know the following points of sale: Apolónia Supermercados (good selection of VP although a bit pricey) Garrafeira Soares (on my vacation in June of this year, I bought two VP at a fair price). Garrafeira Veneza Garcias Cash Duty free at Faro Airport may be a goo...

Re: Hello from Porto, Portugal - new member

Thanks! Fantastic city where I was born and of which I like a lot; unfortunately Porto and Portugal are in general - with one exception or another -
expensive places :( to buy quality port wine compared to the UK and other European countries (even USA), as well you mentioned in this forum.

Hello from Porto, Portugal - new member

Hello! I have been looking around at this forum for some time and and finally I decided to register. I especially appreciate VP and LBV (perhaps because they are the perfect accompaniment to the sacred triad of Portuguese cheeses: Serra, Serpa and Azeitão) and, a little less, old tawnies (10, 20, 30...
