Re: 2017 Dow

Thanks for the review. I'll be keeping my case of six bottles deep in cellar for a couple more decades I think/hope!

Good to hear, thanks. I have dozen bottles in the cellar for the long-term, so their development is of particular interest!

Re: 22nd Regiment SAS port For sale

It was very drinkable - as you said, although it had changed away from a LBV style, it hadn't 'gone bad'! :)

Re: 22nd Regiment SAS port For sale

It's been opened! The LBV has transformed to something more akin to a Colheita. Very nice! The age must be mid 2000s I reckon.

Re: 22nd Regiment SAS port For sale

I'm afraid I've bought the bottle this morning. Will make a nice present (novelty / militaria interest) for someone I know! :) Hopefully we'll share the Port itself..! :990000:

Just having a taste of this now - it is a very tasty LBV and extra-remarkable considering I bought the bottle for £9! 88)

I'm annoyed with myself for not buying en primeur the 2017 Niepoort. :(

Is there a 2017 Bioma? If so, has it not been released?

AFAIK the declarations (recent) are:

2015 - Vintage; Bioma
2016 - Bioma
2017 - Vintage

1998 Warre Cavadinha

Deep - largely opaque - red. Nose is quite strong: fig, soft raisin.. perhaps 'fresh' marzipan. Black forest gateau; mid-sweet. Fair length; some pencil at the end.. hint of liquorice. Some tannin, not acidic, no alcohol aftertaste. Seems to be of ideal age - balanced and perfectly drinkable. 90-91

Surprised to see a half-bottle of 1998 Warre's Quinta da Cavadinha on special offer at my local (not a national chain) supermarket. Already opened... :990066:

Bought a 2015 Sandeman LBV from Waitrose (as per the offer mentioned) - it's a decent port for the price.

Re: 2017 Declarations

Just had the 2017 en primeur list from Tanners (Shrewsbury) - you can add Pintas (Wine & Soul) and also, like last year, Tanners have their own label (I presume, like last year, this will be from the Taylor's group).

Re: 2016 Declarations

... no word on Krohn Krohn has declared to-day as well — http://krohn.pt/our-port-wines/classic-vintage-port/ — but I can’t find a Fladgate Partnership press release, nor any news of Quinta de Vargellas Vinha Velha. John I understand that the Vinha Velha won't be released due to too little wine. So...
