Yup. Warres were very good. Everything else, not so much.

Tasting was quite good fun though.

The second of two near identical bin-end bottles supplied free of charge by a kindly wine merchant. Apparently previous non-bin-end bottles were quite nice. Opened and double-decanted at 0800 on the morning of the Aged LBVs tasting. Had leaked in transit, so was upper-shoulder. Clear glass bottle wh...

Published kick-off time is 1800 for 1830, but suspect I’ll be there sometime between 1700 and 1730. We’re currently in the Red Room (the bigger room), but we might be moved into the Green Room. Could whoever gets there first please check? As we’re only eight, we’ll just pour at the table. The Rosa 9...

Placemats updated. My preference would be not to Audouze, but to open and decant on the morning. Is there an official decanting request? I agree. Open & decant morning of tasting. OK - I'll do just that with my two .... what time are you planning on arriving ... I'll come along and help out !! ...

Placemats: please could the organiser select which of the offered Ports are to be tasted. Placemats are traditionally slightly traditional, in that they at least echo previous precedent for the theme. So: Jan 2021 — could reuse the font /GothamNarrow-Bold ; Mar 2018 — not much liked; Apr 2013 — inc...

Blenheim Palace 1970 Vintage Ports

Just before Christmas last year, Corney & Barrow made an offer of stock (including quite a lot of Vintage Port) from the cellars of Blenheim Place. The Ports had been purchased on release and cellared, undisturbed, since delivery in the early 1970s. I reserved most of the 1970 VPs (about 100 bot...

Re: Aged LBVs - Thu 23 June @ B&F

I don’t have bottles meeting specification (oldest are Warre 2004, 2007, 2008). So please waitlist me, and if it doesn’t fill then I’ll adopt. There doesn't appear to be any mad rush for this one, so I've put you in with adoption of my Delaforce 1995. Memory failure: I do have Warre ʟʙᴠs from 1981,...
