Can I check what time we are starting today? Mike's invite suggests 18:00. I will struggle with that.
Was assuming 1930.

Re: Lockdown Drinking

2000 Taylor, a very pleasant drink shared over the last couple of days with wife and daughter. I realize it is too young, but Armageddon rules apply. Four of us shared a bottle of T2000 at the last tasting pre Zombie Apocalypse. It was drinking extremely well and was a clear WOTN, but still very yo...

Not cheap, but an usually large volume...

BI Wines & Spirits (formerly Bordeaux Index) have just emailed me with an offer of Noval Nacional 2004 @ £1,500 per case of 3 bottles in bond. They apparently have 15 such cases available.

Can I suggest that in honour of our mystery guest we adopt a theme of "Open a bottle of Quevedo Port, if you can."
If we can’t, any suggestions or is it anything goes?

Lockdown Drinking

As a follow-up to a similar theme at Christmas, thought it might be nice to encourage a bit of vinous conversation amongst the TPF family. So, during these days (and nights) of being forced to stay at home, what interesting wines are we imbibing from our racks, cabinets and cellars? To kick things o...

Do I need to open a cellar defender to ensure my decanter survives intact to 19.30?
Given that you don’t have to share it with the rest of us, what harm is there in starting (a bit) early?

There is an almost irresistible temptation to having a decanter of Port sitting on my desk while I am working from home.

Probably it will be to early for me to travel . We'll see...
Whilst VE Day celebrations are scheduled for 8th May, I would suggest that the probability of this tasting taking place then is pretty much zero. Once some degree of normality returns I’ll suggest some dates for later in the year.

What's particularly amusing is that they've also reduced it down to 3 bottles as that's now the maximum number Asda will let you have of any one item. Maybe they're worried about panic buying of Port? Port is one thing I will never run out of :D Assuming I just drink what's in the cellar at home, t...

Asda website currently has a Cockburn LBV (no mention of the vintage however) for £10 per bottle (reduced from £13). A growing, and very annoying habit of the supermarkets is to assume that vintage dates don't matter. I mostly boycott those doing this.. I certainly have been put off buying online i...
