Re: Croft vertical, Tue 07 Nov 2023

I shall be in London on the night, which is to note that if a pair of seats become available do put me down +1. The +1 would be a convivial colleague with an appropriate interest in port.

Re: 1925 Taylor Fladgate & Yeatman Vargellas port

What would be the questions from someone with interest ? Thank you, Joe A number of the questions have already been posed, at least indirectly. Others, set out below, would be (very) difficult to answer. Whatever the case: 1. Who gave the bottle to the friend who gave it to you, and where did the o...

I enjoyed that - and now regret not having taken up cricket at school.

Re: 83@40 2023 - May 25th

I regret that I cannot now accept my promotion from the reserve list. If one or more bottles are needed from me, please advise by text or private message and I will figure out how to get them to Blighty in time.

I believe that the largest quinta, at least in terms of cultivated land, is Quinta das Carvalhas.

Re: 83@40 2023 - Date TBA

I'd be interested in this one, should there be a seat. What I have that is not on Tom's list (subject to confirmation; I am travelling at the minute) is Messias Cachao, Quinta de Covelos and Montebello (Douro Wine Shippers/Barros).

Re: Voting now open - TPF awards ceremony - 7th February 2022

I will bring a '60 Burmester in the hope that it will be new to some of those present. If another laptop is required, please let me know; I shall have one to hand in London.

Re: NV Eirados 20YO (bottled 2021)

In July of this year, I took some friends to Quinta de Santa Eufemia for a tasting of various whites, this producer being known (as most readers will be aware) for same. I have never cared for its tawnies (in contrast to those of the neighbouring Casa de Santa Eufemia), so it did not cross my mind t...

Re: TPF awards ceremony

I would anticipate considerable irreverence and uproarious laughter; please count me in. As to the categories, we might consider adding Best Review of a TFP Tasting; I have long reckoned that there is considerable potential with these reviews for something along the lines of the parliamentary sketch...

Re: 1985 Calem

I have likely consumed a dozen bottles of '85 Calem over the last six years; it appears regularly at auction in Portugal, where it can be had at favourable prices when juxtaposed against the steady quality - invariably 88-89 points. Calem must have bottled scads of the stuff from that year, though h...

1970 Dow

Born as I was in ’63, I have vague memories of 1970: teenaged girls in hotpants, not that I had any interest in either; the babysitter being rather keen on the Beatles, regarding whom I likewise did not see the point; my second-grade teacher explaining to us in hushed tones that the army had been de...

1961 Calem Colheita (bottled 2011)

Mrs. T lives in Devon and was born in 1961; she is very kind and funny. Mrs. T is also the mother of a promising young writer. All credit to her. The more relevant point for our purposes is that Mrs. T’s son is a pal of mine; and, when the young T brought his mother to supper, I reckoned a ’61 to be...

1990 Petre

1990 Petre Lendelede, Belgium, rests roughly twenty-five kilometres east of Ypres. Outwardly non-descript, the town nonetheless has two claims to fame: first, Roland Garros, the aviation pioneer after whom the French Open tennis tournament is named, was shot down by German ground fire on 18 April 19...

I've left the Pocas Jr and RP85 at the B+F. Evidently, there are a handful of bottles likewise there and the lot will be decanted tomorrow morning at some point.
