I am afraid I am sorry too. Unless anyone can volunteer to look after Zac, I can not make it tomorrow either. Very disappointed as I always try to make a point of a wet January. I hope you enjoy some fine juice.

Did we discover what shipper this was from the cork? My notes only seem to say it was branded Coronation Port.

No food for me at this one. Will be leaving london early next year and moving to Dorset if all goes to plan. Which will mean not being able to attend as often, and my lack of food order will hopefully no longer be an issue. Very much looking forward to this tasting and seeing everyone for some Chris...

Re: The Port Garrotte -- a bottle opening tool
Very interesting. It looks much easier than port tongs in terms of the heating process. I will have to attempt to make one for myself... unless of course there might be some b.f.t. branded ones available at the event next April!?

Re: Wed 12 September — 2016
Firstly a huge thank you to Tony for organising this tasting and for all of the producers and also Tom for sharing the bottles with us. It is the first time that I have had a comprehensive tasting of a young vintage port. I have tasted quite a few of the 2015s on release as I did with some of the 20...

Vr16 Deep ruby red, slight purple on the rim. Sweet raspberries on the palate, well balanced with the bite of acidity. A very nice port that maybe lacked a wow factor to push it further up the pecking order on the night. One to watch though.

Re: 2016 Messias Cachao
MsC16 Deep ruby red with inky black core. Sweet, fruity, smooth. Softer than the main Messias, Not as balanced. Lighter than the main release too with a shorter finish. Got better as the night went on though.

Cr16 Between the Taylor's and Fonseca in colour. Med/deep ruby with very slight purple tinge. Red and black fruit showing on the nose and palate. A bit thinner and lighter than the Taylor's/Fonseca but very pleasant with a medium length finish.

Ck16 Deep ruby red with a slight purple rim. More red fruit than black. Lots of acidity on the finish.Softer and more elegant than some on the night but slightly off balance. After the 2011 and 2015 VPs from Cockburn, I think I hoped for more to be honest. But still a good port.

D16 Deep Ruby Red, Quite dry and austere. Some sweetness, but very tight, with more tannin showing than some. It felt different in style to most on the night. Very nice.

Re: 2016 Fonseca
F16 Med/deep ruby red (no purple tinge). Much more red fruit on the nose and palate than some tonight. Lots of jammy raspberry, but not in a reductive way. Much more acidity than the Taylor's. White pepper and some spice, Long finish, but felt slightly out of balance at this stage with the acidity ...

G16 Deep ruby red with a purple rim. Very vibrant colour. Lots of red and black fruit on the nose. Beautiful on the palate, sweet but with wonderful balance and acidity. Rich and opulant. The structure for aging seemed there and it had a lovely long finish. This should be one of the best of the vin...

Re: 2016 Graham Stone Terraces
GST16 Deep ruby red with purple rim. A bit duller than the vibrant colour of the standard Graham's release. Lots of black fruit. Sweet on entry with a rich, full palate and good finish. A very fine port but I thought edged by the standard release.
