Re: Tastings (Physical & Virtual) - Planner

Or ‘35 at 90 or ‘55 at 70 or ‘65 at 60 or ‘75 at 50 or ‘85 at 40… Or 60 @ 65 maybe? Or 70 @ 55. Oh...I'm supposed to be sorting that one... Given we've only recently done probably the largest ever tasting of 55s, not sure there's a rush for that. And I think CEM is considering do it again anyway. 7...

Re: Thoughts on LBVs

I’ve just opened a bottle of Sandeman 2007 LBV. While it’s nowhere near the age that Andy and Tom have been discussing, I can confirm that with 17 years of aging, this LBV is effing delicious! Good to know. When I had a Sandeman 2011 LBV a few years ago in lock down, it seemed it may need 47 years ...

I have other commitments now for this date so am unable to step up from the reserves. I hope that it is even better than the last time these lovely wines were tasted together. Enjoy!

Great article Axel… interesting notes and I have added the Taylor Vargellas 1970 to the hope to try ‘bucket list’, and hopefully against the classic VP.

Agree with Phil’s analysis and also sentiment… I am not quite in a position to confirm as I write so would be happy to swap with Axel and Ralph and drop to the reserve list.

Disappointed to have missed the previous auction with the La Tache 1990 going for such a bargain price! Good luck with the sale.

Very nice indeed… I don’t suppose the Tondonia was a Blanco? That would have been an especially nice wine to start your festive drinking!

Re: Taylor Single Harvest Tawny Tasting - 16 May 2024

I am unable to firmly commit to this unfortunately as I have some bookings. It is possible that I may still be able but in terms of fairness, if commitments are required now, and it is limited to 12, I should relinquish my place and demote to the reserves if possible. I think I have tasted them all ...

Re: 2003 Wine Dinner - B&F - Mon 4 Dec 2023

EARLY I KNOW… but can I put myself down for the 2005 Wine Dinner as a place or reserve if places carry over 😀 I see that this listed as a future event and that will give me sufficient time to ink it in to the diary. My hope is to get into next years too but that is dependent on variables where as 20...

My apologies. Not been on the site for a while and I had forgotten about this tasting. I am afraid I have too many rooms booked in that evening to get away so could a reserve please be promoted. I had no appropriate bottle so hopefully It will be straightforward. My apologies for the late notice.

My Sainsbury’s has clearance Taylor’s 20YO Tawny at £25 at the moment. They only introduced it in my branch at Christmas, so obviously has not sold well.

Palmers of Bridport (Dorset) has some Martinez 1955 in bottles with no labels that were bottled by them on site from barrel I guess in 1957/8 for £250 a bottle.

BUT… then I remembered that I had not left Dorset but was chained to the cooker churning out cooked breakfasts as quickly...
