5 for me and 3 others answered were less than 3 years out, albeit 1 was a guess and the Lafitte and Bacon misremembered.

Re: Croft vertical, Tue 07 Nov 2023

My apologies. Not been on the site for a while and I had forgotten about this tasting. I am afraid I have too many rooms booked in that evening to get away so could a reserve please be promoted. I had no appropriate bottle so hopefully It will be straightforward. My apologies for the late notice.

Re: Port for sale by retailer

My Sainsbury’s has clearance Taylor’s 20YO Tawny at £25 at the moment. They only introduced it in my branch at Christmas, so obviously has not sold well.

Palmers of Bridport (Dorset) has some Martinez 1955 in bottles with no labels that were bottled by them on site from barrel I guess in 1957/8 for £250 a bottle.

Thought I had requested a place but seem to have been bumped, possibly as I did say ‘hoped’. Anyway, please add me to any further reserve requests, many thanks.

Re: A Visit to Quinta do Noval

Thank you both for your comments. It takes quite a bit of effort to put together a thread like this one so it's always reassuring and helpful to know people read and enjoy them. If I am ever lucky enough to visit and stay in such a fashion I promise to put the same efforts in my other regard to sha...

Re: A Visit to Quinta do Noval

What a wonderful thread…I almost feel like I was lucky enough to have visited myself and experience the amazing Quinta and the wonderful Port and wines that accompanied the stay. BUT… then I remembered that I had not left Dorset but was chained to the cooker churning out cooked breakfasts as quickly...

Re: Anyone interested in a Six Grapes Tasting?

I will drop from this as the summer is tricky, and as much of a Six Grapes fan I am, if I have to ration my tastings, this is one I can miss without significant tears.

Yea please… I hope that I will be in a better position to guarantee attendance by then. I will check what I have but could definitely offer the GM 2015 which should still be unavailable through retail at that stage.

Re: 2001 Penfolds Bin 707

I appreciate this is probably a failure of mine but Penfolds is one of those companies that completely defeats me because of the number of wines they produce and their confusing names. Is the Bin 707 better than the Bin 94? Perhaps if I were a member of the Penfolds Club I would be able to tell... ...

Re: Anyone interested in a Six Grapes Tasting?

I am guessing this tasting will be pre-summer. If it doesn’t happen for any reason until the autumn I would hope to be able to attend and have a Tappit Hen of the standard Six Grapes which I would be happy to throw into the mix.

Re: Latest buy

Not had a stella GM79 yet but hopefully they will be good.

However, the Mackenzie 55 is normally another very yummy Port! It would make for a good tasting alongside the FG76… possibly with a Dow 80 added to provide the Baga team, to go against another 55/76/80 trio. 😀
