Re: Shipper adjectives

I think you're all ignoring the elephant in the room - shippers with prefix 'Quinta do'. Should this be hyphenated or removed entirely? Is it Quinta-do-Vesuvian or just Vesuvian? Quinta-do-Novalian or Novalian? Or Novallian if we are Americanising (Americanizing). How about single Quintas and/or spe...

Russ, please let us know in due course whether you had any response from your post here. Your feedback will be helpful for others in the future when they consider whether to post similar messages here. Of course Alex. However, so far the offer has received no bites. Slightly surprised by this as th...

Quinta do Noval Nacional 2004

I was lucky enough to receive an allocation of the recently released Quinta do Noval Nacional 2004 Vintage Port. These have now been delivered directly to my storage facility (Octavian in Wiltshire) in bond. I thought it prudent (who knows how I justify these things to myself - I think my decision h...

Re: Bordeaux Recommendations

In the latest twist of the En Primeur Ltd saga, this morning I received a call from Andrew Penman at the Daily Mirror, asking me to talk about my experience with this company. I was tempted to wax lyrical but my natural dislike for journalists (especially of the trashy tabloid variety) held me back....

Well I ended up with more cash than I started (45 per for the F94) but I can't seem to stop buying this stuff. I have only told the other half about one of the two transactions...

Re: Quinta do Noval Nacional mini-vertical

They successfully sold for EUR2,290, or roughly GBP1,800. Was expecting slightly more but I didn't end up losing money so I'm happy. I can confirm that selling on German eBay from the UK works! The bottles even appear on WineSearcher. You just have to make liberal use of Google Translate to answer q...

Re: Bordeaux Recommendations

Hard to believe the day after something so pivotal but it is what it is. I could have predicted as much. I'm sitting in Berlin waiting for a parcel to arrive. I've sat here all day. The online tracker at Deutsche Post says 'the recipient has been informed and the item is awaiting collection'. I hav...

Re: Bordeaux Recommendations

Indeed. My bank is still being a pain in the proverbial and slowing things down with paperwork and phone calls from Mumbai etc. I tried to call the insolvency practitioners earlier to find out if they'd even been formally appointed at the Creditor's meeting but helpfully the relevant person was on h...

Re: Quinta do Noval Nacional mini-vertical

The bottles are now on e-bay: http://www.ebay.de/itm/Quinta-do-Noval-Nacional-Vintage-Port-1994-1997-2000-2003-/161363639957?ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:DE:3160 Indeed. I was advised that even though selling alcohol is against the rules of eBay UK, it is perfectly within the rules (and law) to sell on the...

Re: Quinta do Noval Nacional mini-vertical

Daniel - it looks like there were two Croft 1945s in their last auction. One went for GBP320 (lot 412 - capsule damage) and one went unsold (lot 463 - damaged label, slight seepage, high shoulder). GBP320 (plus buyer's premium I guess) doesn't seem like a bad price for a Croft 45, although it depend...

Re: Quinta do Noval Nacional mini-vertical

After making some calls it seems sending them to auction is the best way forward - Sworders is the one being recommended most highly it seems. Before I pull the trigger, I am making one last offer on here with a price reduction as I'd much prefer they went to someone on this forum, plus with buyers/...

Very many thanks for the advice. I will pencil in an hour to do some cold calling of brokers and see how it goes, otherwise they will be on their way to an auction house.

Re: Bordeaux Recommendations

Just got off the phone with BigBadBank after a pretty frustrating conversation. They attempted to tell me that they couldn't refund the money as I had a 'personal claim in the liquidation' and there was 'no instruction' to 'contact my credit card company' in the liquidator's letter. I in turn attemp...

This is particularly relevant with wine purcha...

Re: Bordeaux Recommendations

After doing some research on the internet (which never lies...) it seems Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act is key, and should hopefully get us our money back.

I might even pop along to say hello to the Directors at the meeting on 16th July at Bexleyheath to ask them why they invited me to buy more from them only three business hours before they instructed the solicitor to liquidate the company. Yup, they have made a big sales push recently, which I suspe...

Ditto that. Ordered some 2012 bordeaux en primeur a good while ago and got (presumably) the same letter from Mr Ailyan at Abbott Fielding through the post. I also went down the credit card dispute route, although am concerned that they will un-refund the money if they don't get it back from the liqu...

Re: Quinta do Noval Nacional mini-vertical

After a lukewarm response to this offering (read: no one has bought the bottles...) it seems I am reluctantly going to have to go down the broker/auction route. Does anyone have any experience / sage advice to offer in terms of how to go about this and what conduit to use? Obviously I am keen to max...
