Re: Tuesday 19th December - 77@40

Good decision: Nicos excellent. Particularly commendable was his heroism during a ’60 horizontal (don’t ask here — in person).

Re: Tue 2nd or Wed 3rd or Thu 4th Jan 2018

I notice that most respondents have not expressed a preference between the possible themes. 4th strongly preferred, 3rd might work, 2nd no chance 2nd or 3rd works, but not 4th. 2nd preferred, 3rd not possible, 4th possible but not preferred Ouch! One can’t do 2 nd ; one can’t do 3 rd ; one can’t do ...

Re: Tue 2nd or Wed 3rd or Thu 4th Jan 2018

Tuesday 2 nd January. Wednesday 3 rd January. Thursday 4 th January. You know the question. Candidate themes: • 1868, complete horizontal (I would need to adopt); • 1878, complete horizontal (this is my preferred theme, but I would need to adopt); • 1908, complete horizontal (I would need to adopt);...

Re: Thu 21st December 2017 - The Port Forum Xmas Bash

I shall print the pseudo-placemats on Friday 15th so please note no changes will be able to be made to the placemats after 7am on that day. JDAW — thank you for making the sticky labels. How many bottles? And there will be later changes: is there anybody else who has the 5×13 sticky sheets who coul...

Re: Tuesday 19th December - 77@40

Only differences from first post are lack of CMAG in attendee list (but believed correct from above posts), and Ferreira and Factory House are present in ports list with correct supplier, but have not been added against attendees. Charles: if Phil’s (and my) understanding are correct, pls update fi...

Re: Tuesday 19th December - 77@40

Have we one Niepoort, or three? Are we at twenty glasses? Has the B&F been told?

If Mike is printing, then the placemats can be on a trimmed A2, which will use less space than A3+A4. Is he?

Cálem showed really well. Big Ports, long, slightly dry mid palate. I liked.

Thank you to Phil for arranging.

Cá85, decanted 18:30. Dark dark red, 70% opaque. Dry, clean, big, ready.

Re: 1983 Calem

Cá83, decanted 14:30. Dark dark red, 60% opaque. Another big Port, showing well, especially for a vintage of which many bottles can be disappointing. The mid palate slightly dry.

Re: 1977 Calem

Cá77, decanted noon. Dark dark red, opacity not noted. Lighter than the two ’70s, with some spearmint, and a dirty note — farmyard? — that I didn’t like.

Re: 1970 Calem Foz

CáF70, decanted 14:30. Dark dark red, 70% opaque. Softer and sweeter than the Cá70, and brighter too, perhaps because of the hint f spearmint. Fabulous, though I preferred the Cá.

Re: 1970 Calem

Cá70, decanted 14:30. Dark dark red, 60% opaque. Big chocolatey Port, with dark cherries. But the heft and length are particularly splendid: solid Port for solid people. Excellent.

Cá66, decanted 14:15. Fantastic. Massive and long, with white pepper, and a deep variety of flavours. Huge, but slightly dry. At its peak, and a splendid peak.

CáF63, decanted 15:30. Like the Cá63, showing signs of drying out. Maraschino cherries, and very long.
