Cockburn’s Full Dry was in Wine Society catalogues, intermittently, from about March 1912, at 24/- per dozen (ten metric pennies ...

BBC, 'A bottle of wine a night was normal for me' , 21 April 2024: For almost 20 years it was not unusual for Anna Donaghey to drink a bottle of wine every night. The advertising professional said it was a part of normal life, nothing "atypical or abnormal", until it began to impact her re...

Of course I’d love to play. But I have not suitable 1994 bottles, and so acknowledge the possibility that I might therefore be deselected.

But I have interesting ’70s, so am clinging on.

The Warre 1947 is high shoulder, bottler unknown (though it came from Alex B., and it might be that a different bottle of the batch had a label). I propose to open and decant at 07:30 on the day. Objections?

Important : anybody bringing a decanter for this experiment, please ensure that it is clean and fresh. If it hasn’t been used in the last two-ish weeks, please re-rinse by filling with very hot water, and then dry, perhaps in sun and wind. Must be very dry, so do this task before the last moment. M...

So let me ask a question. If I were to give you a bottle of Port to drink this weekend, with the producer chosen at random, which vintage would you prefer me to select from if I limit your choice to the 1980s or 1990s? • 1980 is part great, part absolutely not. • I’m not a fan of ’83. • 1985 has so...
