Re: Cockburns 1878

I’d be astonished if it‘s genuine. If it is, it must have come recently from Cockburn’s cellars. When bought? Show me the paperwork.

True. My wife sighs, while my sons and I giggle. I'm a bad influence, apparently. :)

Re: Software that makes placemats

To me the original don't look like sperm, which have a bulbous head and long wiggly tail. I prefer the original Fully agree, but significantly many seem not to. Which can be simplified to d = 2/(10^⅓ - 1) Is the surdish denominator a simplification? Maybe — tastes differ. An observation; you have c...

Re: 1967 Cockburn

Ck67, decanted 13:00 (an extra from CMAG’s collection — thank you).

Pink, 30% opaque. Not a perfect Ck67 — this being thin, dominated by heat, with artificial sweetener.

Adams ’66, decanted noon. Red-red-pink, 30% opaque. Palate not excellent, the dominant flavour being black Maynards wine gums.

† I checked: no apostrophe.

Re: 1966 Gould Campbell

GC66, decanted 15:45. Red, 40% opaque. Unlike the other ’66s, as if not from this set. A dark meatiness, perhaps turkey leg, with long sweetness. Soft. In this company strange, but liked.

Re: 1966 Graham

G66 , decanted 16:15. Red-pink, 35% opaque. This was strange. at about 5pm I’d tasted from a small glass of sediment-rich residue. That had been fantastic: large red-fruited perfectly soft mature Port. But at table, in my first glass, and in a substitute, it had maraschino cherries, saccharine swee...

N66, decanted 15:45. Red-orange, 35% opaque. Nose not right: strangely vegetal. Derek said bacterial. Same vegetalness in the palate, behind which were orange and red fruit. But this bottle not right.

Later still very good, but slightly flabbier than at the start.

F66 , decanted noon. Glorious red, 40% opaque. Palate of red fruit and pepper, mid length, soft, long, and dry at end. It’s less than an old-school F66, but still delightful. Later it had grown in the glass, but not to the dark-fruit mass of F66 as they used to be. http://www.jdawiseman.com/2019/20...
